I live in a low-income apartment complex known best locally as "The Jerrys", short for the Jerry Springer Apartment. My next door neighbor, when he moved out, left a stack of bad pornography that came up half way to my chest (I'm 6'4) next to my door. So no, I do not know my neighbors, nor am I super inclined to do so.

I don't think I've ever seen my neighbors before. There is a couple that lives a few floors up that I met in the laundry room when I found out we were both Real Salt Lake fans but that's it. Then again I work nights and graveyards so I'm usually asleep or at work during normal human hours.

I don't talk to strangers...
Joking aside, I tend to avoid strangers, I've a group of friends I remain in contact with, regardless of distance, I don't tend to do a terrible amount of socialising. I usually stick to myself and those I trust.

Why not, they sound like they would be good for some wacky white trash hijinx...

I have lived in the same house ever since it was built so I know basically all my neighbours, maybe not by name but at least by face. Lots of them have come and gone, some even came back.

To be blunt, most of them are what you'd expect out of neighbours, the occasional hello etc. I say most because my next-door neighbour came up to me one day and said, 'Could you look after our garden for the next 6 weeks, it's just that we're going to our villa in Spain' I wouldn't have minded except they said it with an overwhelming amount of smugness.

My parents seem to know the neighbors, but I've always been an introvert, so I only really know some names and what they look like.

When I was a kid we didn't have neighbors the nearest other house was about 8 miles away. Though we did know them.

When I lived in apartments I rarely, if ever, knew anyone living around me unless my roomate decided to bone someone living there.

As an adult i know everyone who has property touching my property. I wouldn't call us 'friends' but I can ask them to feed my cats when I'm out of town and vise-versa. My wife and I kind of stick out here because everyone else is 12-30 years older than us and has kids or grown kids. They also have a lot more stuff.

Well my home is an old stone cottage in the middle of the English countryside so all my neighbours are old people. We do have a man and woman opposite us who are really really creepy. We don't know if they're married, friends or related and they kinda give me the horror film heeby-jeebies.
At uni we didn't know any of our neighbours except for the couple opposite who were friends of one of my flatmates from his home town.

My [current] neighbors are a bunch of fucking idiots, so I don't care to get to know them.

I don't see that changing anytime soon, sadly.

We've lived in this house for 2 years and I know absolutely nothing about my neighbours worth knowing.

Don't know names, never spoke to them we haven't even said hi in passing.

All I know is the young lass in the house on our right has a young child and can't sing for shit. The couple on the other side have a son of about 8 or 9 and he annoys the fuck out of me. Plays football on the front street and constantly hitting doors and windows with it. Old bloke over the road chased him the other day, now that was funny.

The only one of my neighbors that I really know is the crazy man next door.

He's been decorated for Christmas since the eighties.[footnote]I don't mean just a string of lights, either. There's a fully decorated (non plastic) tree in there.[/footnote]

He kneels for hours in his garden 'talking' to the plants.

According to an acquaintance of mine from high school who worked at a convenience store, he'd go into the store every day at the same time, buy cigarettes, coca cola and scratch off lottery tickets, lose on the tickets, and then proceed to go on an hour long rant on how it's the fault of the Democrats.

He thinks the weather patterns are a conspiracy against him.

I greet them whenever we pass by, but I can't remember the last time I talked to them.
They leave us be, I let them be. Everyone happy.

New neighbour on one side is kinda paranoid though. Been rooting out all plants in the garden because her son "might catch some pollen" (I'm pretty sure he's not allergic).
Kinda feel sorry for the kid.

P.S. Still disappointed at your lure though. Bored, and hoped you'd have some good stories to share.

I know everyone. My town has less then 300 people, and I'm on my fire department and city council, so I've met almost everyone. I know most of the people in all the neighboring towns too.

I only know one of my neighbours. He once whispered something disgusting into my ear while I was looking in my bag for my keys, so I punched him in the face. I see him from time to time but he doesn't talk to me anymore. He's also now engaged to someone I used to go to school with.

I'm gayer than a three dollar bill, and these weren't spring chickens. No sexy stories to be had there.

Also, I don't see how this isn't obviously an example of "If things look to good to be true".

Shame on you for using a lure in the title. Then again, I did vote and I am posting, so I guess I'm not helping my own cause.

But yeah, I don't know most of my neighbors. I knew a lot more of them as a kid, playing with the kids on the street, but nowadays I have friends from school and friends online that I spend time with. I don't even really live at my house anymore, so I see little point in keeping up. I am on good terms with a lot of the little kids in the neighborhood though. They mostly know me through my little brother (he's still much older than them, but he's more active in sports and biking and other physical shit, so he's outside more), but I like them pretty well and they seem to like me. So there's them.

Only some, but then again, I just bought the house like two months ago. We've been talking with the one neighbor I know about maybe doing a block party or something after our baby is born.

Our previous three residences have been apartments in a town of six colleges, our neighbors were generally... predisposed during our regular socializing hours.
