I'm a teacher at a school. As soon as one of the students got wind that I play video-games every single kid in the school comes running up to me when they see me yelling:

"Have you got Black Ops yet? What prestige are you?!? Hey we should exchange gamer tags! I bet you can't beat me!"

...and so on and so forth. I usually tell them (in this order):

- Yes I have Black Ops.
- I haven't prestiged yet because I don't play it anymore.
- I'm not giving you my Gamertag. I'm a teacher. Not a friend.
- Yes... yes I could and would beat you. But frankly, the latest COD kinda sucks and I'm too tired of it. It's same ol same ol. Nothing particularly exciting.

Note the same kids come see me the next day talking to me about Black Ops as if I actually cared.

I would recommend getting really good at the game (on PC preferably) and then challenging them. Then kicking their ass of course.

Man your school seems pretty bad i don't like COD that much and complain to my friends if they start talking about it but we end up just laughing about it.

Edit: Post above, same thing happened to a teacher at my school.

It could easily have been avoided if you had picked your words better.
Agreed. You were kinda asking for it, but they're taking it a pointlessly far imo.
Obviously you're not the only one that doesn't think it's that great.

I go through this with my friend all the time, he's a super Halo Fanboy and he bashes COD while I try to defend it. And not the "I just don't like it" crap, but he says "It's no better than MW2" and how Halo has vehicles and how "Halo is such a better game." And it just goes on and on between the two games. But my entire school hasn't shunned me just for hating on Halo Reach, or even shunned my friend for hating on Black Ops. The kids in your school are immature and need to get a life.

I don't care if you don't like it, you don't have to like Black Ops, but you shouldn't be shunned by your school for it. One person is OK, you can deal with him/her, but not the entire school. Especially if you just said you just can't stand it. I would probably rant on you if you said it's the worst game in the world with no proof, or you make stuff up to help defend your rant.

And Halo Reach isn't a bad game, I actually kind of like it. IMO, it's not as good as COD, but it's still pretty good.

You sir are right just because of your Galaga (best game ever) avatar and because COD isn't anything special. I don't hate COD, it provides a casual, arcade FPS experience full of movie-like set-pieces and it does all that really well. What I do hate is the gaming media and COD players that act like COD is the gold standard for FPSs and they all think COD is so HARDCORE when it's just a casual, DEVOLVED FPS with a fun action packed single player and serviceable multiplayer. The multiplayer is so lacking it's beyond ridiculous. How can COD be the top online shooter when it can't even get something as basic as a spawn system right? There's no clan support, there's no level system that reflects player skill, there's no public room setup (it's all matchmaking), there's health regen, there's no LEANING for crying out loud, only ARing and SMGing are viable playstyles, etc.

You may call bullshit playing cod, But seriously it isn't bad, I can name dozens of worse games that damn well no one is talking about that are much worse than cod. Hell its cool to hate cod and halo, god knows everyone is out there playing timeshift, frontlines, unreal, etc.

It sounds like you're exaggerating, but in any case, your school seems to be full of idiots. On the other hand, CoD isn't as bad as most would make it out to be, it can be fun at times. It certainly isn't the best FPS game (Or "best game evar") either and certainly not "hardcore" as far I'm informed (Counter-strike takes that spot IMO).

On another idiotic note, if your school attacks you, be sure to use a grenade launcher and excessive knives, that will piss them off to no end.

Lets just put it this way, there's a reason that Call of Duty is popular, and that reason is not that everyone in the world besides you is a dumbass.

I really don't think that there's anything wrong with not liking the call of duty franchise, but when you're going to say that such a popular game is terrible, you really need to back it up with a somewhat informed opinion on the matter. This is something that you did not do, so more than anything else, it would sound like trolling to fans of the game, and in that case, they would be in their rights to shun you.

This.

It would have been difficult for me to put it any better.

But really, if you hate on such a poppular thing you better bring some class A arguments, not just you unfounded hate.

I still like my response last time someone stated trying to get in my face about video games.

My response? Explain, in extraordinarily graphic detail, why he was s stupid twit, why he deserved brutal, brutal shotgun murder, and why I wanted to taste human flesh (Which I didn't, but at the time I made everyone think I did by knowing things like the fact that it tastes just like pork when cooked, which you can learn fairly easily be reading the acconts of people forced to canabalism to survive).

Then I stalked him (within the school only to keep it at least somewhat away from the eyes of the law) for about 3 weeks until he had a complete emotional breakdown, and begged me to stop. I didn't for another week. Then I acted as if I had never done anything, which, as you could imagine, creeped people out more.

Yeah, after awhile, no one bothered me, but at the same time, no one spoke to me. Incidentally, this was the other half of my goal in stalking a kid for 4 weeks; creep everyone out to the point that they wouldn't talk to me anymore.
And this is the sort of behavior that makes everybody hate you and makes the people at school treat you like shit.

It's a stupid vicious cycle that people bring upon themselves. Stop being so hateful and unlikable to everybody and you'll find out that most of those evil "others" are actually pretty cool people, and you can learn a thing or two from them.

Was any part of what you did cool? Or was it just annoying?

Look at it like this : it gives you an excuse to start hanging out with girls

EDIT: Also get better friends, if they hate you for your opinion on a game then they're probably not worth it.
Yeah, I'm sure they will like the fact you don't care about COD. Besides, it's actually a gigantic relief to hang out with somebody besides your own gender. I come from a family with 6 brothers, so it is quite refreshing. Plus, if anyone calls you gay, you can say they're hanging around with a buncha dudes all day.

You're probably over exaggerating the situation. I doubt an entire school would go to such a length just because of that. Not to mention that it really is a poor game, even by Call of Duty standards. If they're just gonna troll you like that then maybe you should either just ignore them. Or block them, that would also work.

i assume that they are all average casual gamers... football players and whatnot who own ONLY Call of Duty, and maybe madden or guitar hero games.

if im right, their opinions do not mean anything. they havent had the chance to try the vastly superior games out there.

but call of duty is still good, just not your thing.

Serious Answer?
Ignore them, who cares. They're video games, not some ancient cultural rite that you respect. Ignore the insults, they're stupid fanboys. While I'm not saying Blops is necessarily a bad game, it's just they're bad fans. It'll be over soon...and as if they don't even like AC? I mean most of my friends love Blops, but they also love a lot of other mainstream games, i.e Brotherhood. Do these guys *only* play CoD?

Stupid Answer?
1. Kill friends
2. Move schools
3. Play Orange Box
4. ????
5. Profit

So I was talking with my buddies about games during class and they brought up COD, much to my dismay. I immediately said "Ugh I can't stand that game," and left it at that. Well, little did I know that an ever growing shit storm was coming my way. My friends would tell their friends that would tell their friends etc that I hated COD. Now I'm receiving messages and from people listing games from my game history and they're going "Assassin's Creed sucks, The Orange Box sucks, Sid Meier's Pirates sucks" so on and so forth. People call me retarded and lame for not liking it. Am I the one with the problem or does my school need to be purged?

They have issues but either way it's not that bad of a series.

I am happy to say, you are not at all at fault here.

If you don't like it, then you don't like it. Don't let other people get you down just because you don't like a well selling game. You don't have to love every big game thats out there.

I personally don't find COD appealing anymore, and I've never been a fan of Gears of War. People give me some slag for it but I don't let it bother me.

Fuck 'em. You can carry on safe in the knowledge that you will experience games outside of their 'remit', and go on to enjoy the fullness and wealth of experience gaming can offer. They can fuck off and get nerd rage and no doubt carry on fucking off while they fuck off to fuck.

Yeah, I got bored!
