Not much to forgive from my side, I liked the ending too. Well, after a while anyway. I was upset at first.

But I wouldn't mind something added to it, like some more information on the creation of the Reapers and its motivations. I also wouldn't mind a larger prologue showing what happens in the galaxy after Shepard, even if that is against the point of an open ending a bit.

If the indoctrination theory is right and they build on that then yeah I'll look forward to a DLC expanding on what happens afterwards. But even then the indoctrination theory makes the ending more than satisfying for me even if it's not what Bioware intended. They can't really save the ending any other way IMO.

No new ending, how pathetic would that be if they changed what they wanted just because of a small number of fans. Pathetic. All they want is additional scenes as closure on the other characters, Grunt, Jack, Garrus etc What happened to them and the Joker thing. The endings themselves was fine i thought - apart from the recycling of cgi. People today need everything spelled out for them. I dont. I have my imagination. I dont need Bioware to tell me what happened to Grunt....i already know.
Stop being obtuse.

Games are not art, and you're not Andy Warhol.

"Small number of fans". Please. Stop trying to frame arguments for your own purposes. Tens of thousands of fans is not "a small number", and that's just one petition there are like three out there--even if the other two only have half that number, its still TENS OF THOUSANDS of people. That has not and will never be a "small number".

And yes, people want things spelled out for them--because that is an author's job. An author's job (and I'm a writer, BTW) is to tell the reader or viewer what who the hell is going on. Unless you're being some artsy hipster, in which case you just pout like a child whenever people tell you your writing is obnoxious and stupid. And even IF that weren't the case, even if the job of a writer wasn't to explain the plot to you, then it would STILL be obnoxious and stupid--or have you not discerned from the hundreds of people who commented on it that its full of plot holes. That's another job of a writer to remain internally consistent. And so even if they don't "spell it out" (i.e., explain their shitty plot) to the viewer they still have to avoid plot holes, characters acting out of character, or logical mobius strips.

How did the Normandy get to the Charon Relay? Why did it go there? Why did it survive the destruction of the relay network? Why are your teammates on the planet too? Why did the Catalyst ignore the facts about the Geth and their creators no longer being at war? Why did Shepperd not even bring it up? Why would Garrus abandon you? Why would Joker? What happens to the victory fleet? To the Quarrians? The Krogan?

Those aren't minor questions dude those are important, plot relevant questions. In short the ending, even if it WAS some grand artistic achievement, doesn't make sense within the canon. It is not internally consistent. Therefore it is a failure. Therefore it is broken. Therefore it needs to be fixed. Therefore, stop White Knighting this crap and let Bioware sheepishly admit they screwed the pooch and fix it already.

And before you start on some "games are art" crap, no they aren't and even if they were neither I nor any of the people who spent $200 and five God damn years on this series have no time for some film school graduate's arthouse Machinima project in the middle of a game we spent so much time and money on.
