*** Okay, so this is only ASSUMING that I won't be able to build a computer of equal or greater at a lower price. ***

With these new generation of games coming out (Battlefield 3 and other future title's I've been looking forward to), requiring much more powerful computers (at least more powerful than mine is right now which isn't that powerful), I think next month from now is a good time to upgrade! And I'm on the fence on which one I should get.

Now as of right now, I'm probably going to build the second one, except without the Blu-Ray player and only with 1TB hard drive, because really, they're not really necessary... well I mean in fact the entire computer is unnecessary but, you know... The first computer is cheaper and still fairly good. But the second computer has an i7 processor which future games will probably be optimized for. Assuming for some reason I can't build either one for cheaper which one do you think I should get?

Those computers aren't worth the price they're charging for at all as with most prebuilts. If you do the research on parts and learn to build it yourself(It's really just adult lego) you will come up with far better and 200 - 300$ cheaper. Also Cyberpower has a history with shoddy build quality, and they don't list the power supply which I imagine would be a generic in house one.(Worst place to cheap out on)

Edit: Future titles won't be needing an enthusiast level pc. Even Battlefield 3 only really needs a 5770 which is a mid-low tier card.
Edit: I dont recommend 8 or more GB of ram. 4 is fine and 6 is an abundance. Go with the i5 2500k with an aftermarket heatsink, the k series can overclock extremely well.

I don't know about AMD cards too much, but I've got a pretty similar setup to the first computer with an Nvidia GTX 570 HD 1280MB.

It's run everything I've thrown at it with ease. The Witcher 2 runs flawlessly with everything turned on it's highest.

I'd imagine the first setup would last you a good 2 - 3 years without much of an issue with needing to upgrade, and even then a new graphics card might be the only thing needed. The second one is just overkill and overpriced to me. This is of course assuming you want to run everything on high.

Also, check NewEgg [http://www.newegg.com/], if there is a place to get good prices it's there.

Honestly? I would go for #1. #2 is just ridiculously overkill. My setup is nearly the same as #1, and can run Metro 2033 (which is probably the most graphic-intensive game currently on the market) with nearly everything maxed at a decent framerate. You really shouldn't need anymore than that for BF3, I would suspect.

The first one is well specced for budget gaming. IF it has a decent motherboard, decent PSU and decent cooling (for overclocking as it has an overclocking chip you don't need a k series chip if you aren't OCing). The GPU is OK but not fantastic, I should run any game that is based on a console release like the dickens though. What size in pixels is your monitor? The 6850 would be OK for 1080 monitors but might struggle with 16:10. Does the motherboard support 8x 8x Crossfire? If does and the PSU will handle it you have a definite upgrade path if it doesn't perform in some games.

Definately #1 The i5 2500k is an awesome processor and can be overclocked to 4.5GHz. 8gb ram is more than enough, any more is just overkill.

The 6950 is better than the 6850 but the 6850 is still pretty damn good and to be honest you could probably buy a top of the range graphics card and the price would still be lower than #2

Whoops, missed the motherboard. Total is still only $1,450.90, with the blu-ray drive. Not as bad as of a rip of, but still $300 for putting it together.

I built the first on newegg one for $999.92. Only difference is on newegg I get 2TB instead of 1TB, but that's not a big deal.

I normally abstain from giving that advice, purely because if someone could be bothered to do that, they'd know how.

OT: Instead of the above advice, I put it to you to buy a custom rig from a local store who will usually build it for you for free and you'll get a great price on top.

I would really recommend doing some research and either building the whole rig yourself, or if you don't feel comfortable actually building it then buying the parts seperately and paying someone to build it for you. You'll save quite a bit of money.

I'm not familiar with prices on the american market, but if you want to play games a few years from now, you'll need a 4 core processor. No argument there. Should also be a second generation i-core, if it has to be intel. (those are usually those with 4 numbers, look for sandy bridge)
Also, american market used to be cheaper then german, don't now for sure though, but that seems to be just expensive crap.

upgrading HDD/RAM memory down the line is pretty easy compared to processors (at least I think never tried buying RAM) so I would go for the CyberpowerPC GXi220
