Wow... Well I guess I'll go with Shadow of Chernobly.
Seems like its more atmospheric!
----------------------------------

But what I'm asking is which one? I'm quite sure there are 2.
S.T.A.L.K.E.R Clear sky
and
S.T.A.L.K.E.R Shadow of Chernobly
And I also know that S.T.A.L.K.E.R Clear sky is newer ... I think, but that doesn't always make it better.
And I've been hearing about crashes, are they fixed?
But I'm interested in the game because of the atmosphere, and that looks somewhat immersive.
So, which one is more featured and interesting.
And please explain why you like one better from the other!

Clear Sky - Looks great, alot of fun, Very Buggy.
SOC - Lackluster Graphics, also alot of fun, Very Hard.
Both are good choices, but Clear Sky is a prequel. I'd go with that.

NO!
Clear Sky is an excellent game but it needs to be heavily modded to get the best out of it and its still buggy.
Shadow of Chernobyl is excellent unmodded and contains the amzing atmosphere that made the game famous. Heavily modded it is my 2nd favourite game of all time, just grab the oblivion lost mod and you can sink 30 hours into a single playthough.
The story really isnt overly confusing so the prequel is not nessescary.

I would play SoC first too. I had some wonderful experiences with it (even un-modded, but I heard great things about that Oblivion Lost Mod too). I'm not sure but I think I found it slightly better than the second one; Clear Sky. Good choice in gaming!

Recently played SoC so I must say that if you go with that one then I suggest, like johnman did, on downloading the Oblivion Lost mod for it, just made the whole experience a lot better for me.

I'll put my vote on SoC as well. It won the GameSpot special award for Best Atmosphere in 2007 and it greatly deserves it. I find it comparable to System Shock and BioShock in terms of atmosphere (i.e. the best of them).

Besides, I find it easier to pick up a newer game after an older instead of the other way round.

Wonderful, I guess I'll go with Shadow of Chernobly. But where can I get that mod?

Whoever said SoC has lackluster graphics obviously doesnt play it on decent settings. If you play it full HDR/Bloom and shadows its gorgeous. It almost looks like it runs off of the Source Engine about HL2:Ep2 release time.

This SS was taken with everything on max except shadows and HDR (I play with those off because while it makes games look stunningly amazing... its un-needed post processing guring gameplay. Its the difference between 50-75FPS

Get SoC first, because it's the better game. If you like it, get Clear Sky, because it's almost as good and has better graphics.

Both.
If you can get both, play through Clear Sky first, since it's a prequel, but I liked Shadow of Chernobyl much, much more.

The Graphics of Clear Sky don't even look all that different from Shadow over Chernobyl. I'd also reccommend SoC, because while the faction stuff in Clear Sky sounds like fun, it's actually terribly broken and annoying, even with the newest patch. And overall, SoC was just more fun.

You can look for Oblivion Lost here: http://stalker.filefront.com/files/...rection=desc#results[\url][/QUOTE] Thanks!

I'm a hardcore STALKER fan, one of the admins of the Zone Survival Guide forums and IMO if you want one stalker game, get Shadow of Chernobyl. Clear Sky is, sadly, little more than a techdemo for the new DX10 version of their Xray engine. I had the collectors edition so don't think i'm a hater.

There's also an early 2004 build of Shadow of Chernobyl (actually it's the true Oblivion Lost from before the game got streamlined)freely available that you might want to consider downloading once you're finished with Shadow of Chernobyl.

And finally, there's a new game coming out this summer, called Call of Pripyat, which looks fairly promising. GSC says they're returning to the SoC atmosphere.

Oh and screw Oblivion Lost. If you really want to improve your game with a mod, get the Zone Reclamation Project

I Agree, S.T.A.L.K.E.R. Shadow of Chernobyl is my my favorite FPS of all time.
