Poll: So, let's vent about Youtube a bit.

Tell me, folks. What is it about Youtube that makes them grow steadily worse over time? Why do they do it, and don't they see it happening? Or better yet...why don't they actually DO something when everyone complains?

What we have here is a thread where I ask you "Where the hell did Youtube go wrong?", and perhaps why.

Because they have ALOT wrong. Let's see... The buffering doesn't work right. They losse the signal if they're left alone too long. Sometimes the SOUND forgets to play. Lately, the sound cuts out IN THE MIDDLE of the video. Oh yeah, and something else. Replays. The video has loaded all the way, and it's played through. You push replay. WHY DOES IT HAVE TO LOAD AGAIN?

The problems of Youtube today were not there some couple years ago, say. What in the bleeping hell did they do to screw that all up? Yes, you in the viewing audience with your hands up! SPEAK!

Adding to the list of technical problems with Youtube, sometimes when loading a video it will instead give me a version of the video with reduced duration. Example: if I click on a 5 minute video it might give me a 20 second copy of that video which only plays the first 20 seconds of it. The page has to be refreshed a few times until you can watch the damn video.

... not to mention the design and look of the site has been getting worse and worse.

I have to agree with this, its not just whining about change either, the site has objectively become worse to navigate.

The technical issues is why I upload to niconico instead of youtube nowadays.

However, it's being unable to browse videos by category that pisses me off the most.
I mean, how do I go about finding interesting channels?
It's like anything that isn't vevo is being shafted.

I don't even know, i mean, it really seems YouTube is going down the drain at an alarming rate. And i still spend so many hours per day there...

I miss the old (like, 3 years old by now) function they used to have wherein if you had watched a video in your subscription box, it would dissapear, leaving room for your other subscriptions. I thought this was a great idea. It encouraged people to subscribe to youtubers that post a whole bunch'o videos every day, because even though you might not watch them all, they'll just dissapear if you click on them, so it ain't no problem.

My rants about youtube are, too many damn adverts! Seriously some are like more than 4 minutes long and don't give me the option to skip! Also videos not available in your country or for your IP. Did I mention the adverts? Cuz there seem to be more adverts on youtube than there were 5 years ago.

I don't have any problem with the layout, and I use a PC. The problem is that so many people use it that literally anyone can get popular and a huge following, even if they are a dick or obnoxious or just plainly incorrect. If you even try to start a decent debate bringing this up on their videos, you'll be shot down as a troll.

I don't think I have a problem with the layout too much, adverts are a bit annoying, I mean does anyone even watch them?

Another random problem I get every so often is where a video will suddenly stop playing in the middle of the video, and start all over again from the beginning all by itself.
And then it won't track ahead to the part of the video I was just watching. And sometimes it decides to rub it in and play me another ad.

Oh yes this... on the design, I especially hate how the title of the video is at the bottom now, so when you enter a new page, you have to actively look for it... and how it's impossible to search for more videos from that same channel conveniently on the video's page... now you gotta go to their channel and spend more time than necessary... also, hate the left side of the screen, just all of it... the more results option is fucking useless, and the what to watch is as well... because it's all redundant links that take you to the front page anyway... a poorly designed front page, that for some reason classifies new video uploads, on the same level as some video a subscription that you never uploads videos anymore liked... and what to watch is just complete trash... either redundant stuff from subscriptions, or random videos Youtube pulled up on some random conditions... also there's the subscription pull down, which seemed like a good idea at first, but completely cocks it up, by A) not actually taking you to their channel and B) not even listing them in any kind of conceivably coherent order, they just seem to be thrown about with no rhyme or reason...

And the videos have been doing this same thing to me, and also, have been doing this weird thing of just deciding not to load when I pause the video, so lets say I open a new page and pause the video when I get up to get something to eat, than I come back and it's only loaded less than a second and I have to refresh the page to get more... It's stupid...<.<

Youtube has been pissing me off lately.

Sometimes the quality would drop and become really pixellated...and the sound would cut out...thus ruining everything.

The layout is shocking now. I was really angry when they changed it to its current layout because it is really hard to navigate my channel and other peoples channels.

Have they gotten rid of half the videos or something? I go to search for a video that I remember watching a year ago and its gone? The search box is fucked too...I search for something and completely unrelated videos appear.

Ads. Ads up the arse.

Random video quality (140p? daheck?)

There's probably so much more but these problems didn't exist a couple of years ago. It was good before Google bought it.

What the actual fuck is their criteria for top comments these days? Does each comment get one point plus one per thumbs up and the system randomly holds a virtual raffle every few whenever-the-fucks?

Buffering is completely messed up. Channels are bullshit to navigate, qaulity will automatically adjust as a default which is retarded, it keeps asking about my display name whenever I log in, it looks worse, the "reccomended for you" randomly spliced inbetween the "related videos" which are hardly related, no tags, featured videos, what SpamBot said about top comments and I guess that's about it.
I don't get any sound issues, I think it might have something to do with the ads, try watching some videos with a blocker on to see if it fixes it(if it's a common occurence.)

What's this about content blocking? Someone inform me of da details.

What really ticks me off is that the site design is layed out for tablets. Anyone browsing on an actual computer is told to go fuck themselves now that the LAYOUT DOESN'T ACTUALLY FIT THE FUCKING SCREEN PROPERLY!!!!

Also, this was easily fixed, you could revert your layout back to an older one. But you know what they did? THEY FUCKING STOPPED YOU FROM DOING THAT!!!!

One day Youtube will go to being a paysite and everyone will just flip them the bird.
