I've reached the third disc but haven't played this for ages. I do like it though, it's so much better than any recent Final Fantasy. The characters are a bit daft at times, and the kids are annoying but no where near as irritating as Vanille or Snow in FFXIII.
I'm at a point in the game that requires me to do some more levelling up, and i've been too lazy to do it. Hope to finish the story at some point though.

Lost Odyssey is a game that is held up almost entirely on its story

Yes, the combat is boring
Yes, the leveling system is stupid
Yes, i'ts painfully linear for the first three discs
Yes, some of the set pieces are frustrating

BUT....if you can get past all that, you'll find a very deep and rewarding story and character experience

Plus it is nice to see a JRPG main character who is actually interesting to learn about and isn't another two-dimensional whiny spikey-haired girly-man (although it does bug the ever-loving sh*t out of me that he won't brush that lock of hair out of his face; I have militant OCD btw)

It was a wonderful surprise for me. I didn't really know if I would like it all that much. But then I did.

I had some small issues with it, mostly to do with some of the characters or their models, but other than that, I played it from beginning to end without stopping. Some time down the line, if I don't have something to play for a while, I'll probably pick it up and go through it again. Considering it's a 40+ commitment to do that, I can't really think of a much higher compliment for an RPG.

Its been one of those games I've always wanted to check out but have never been able to due to my lack of a 360.

I love the game. I wanted to get back into JRPGs, so I got this game after a few game-play videos and trailers. To me the game is great, and I don't mind any of it (I easily adapt). The story is really good and those Thousand Years of Dream cuts are amazing.

It's the first game to make me feel sentimental towards its characters, and despite some annoyances of some, I, over time, grew to get attached to them (especially Jansen). It's one of my favorite Xbox 360 games, and I've actually thought about re-playing it sometime soon.

I had to take a few breaks, lasting a month or more, while playing the game due to frustration. But every time I did play again, I played for a long time, and, eventually, I clocked in 73 hours and completed it. And it was worth it.

Too much grind for me, and the design of the main character was awful (especially the loose lock of hair). If you're only 3 hours in, just wait until you fight the electric worm fucker.

I can see how it's not for everyone, but I loved it. Kind of like I loved FFXIII. Sure the gameplay could use some work, but the characters and story (in both games) were so engaging, it was enough for me to overlook the boring combat mechanics (LO) or staggering linearity (FFXIII).

Also I'd buy A Thousand Years Of Dreams as a book in a heartbeat. Really touching stories, those.

I guess... What I got from it was that Kaim had seen so much senseless waste and tragedy that he was just shutting down, becoming an automation. His big loss was the final straw, but it was part of a pattern. The "life is what you make of it" was part of a turn around... a change of direction for him. The memories contrast with his new way of interacting with the world.
