About one week ago new trailers came out for two new additions to the Monster Hunter series, Monster Hunter 3 G and Monster Hunter 4. They are both coming out on the 3DS and we don't yet know when but that isn't the big issue here. The big issue here is figuring out if Capcom and Nintendo plan to release it to western audiences.

If you don't know much about Monster Hunter you should know that their western releases are few and far between and when we actually get titles for it they are almost always amazing ( To fans at least ) Most or all of their games only come out in Japan, China, and Korea, the most notable of which is their MMO version Monster Hunter Frontier which is probably the best Monster Hunter game we will never be able to see...ever.

I just came on to make a thread asking about what you think they are going to do IE release it or not and what the Escapist generally thinks of Monster Hunter. Also if anyone here was looking to getting Xenosaga in the west you probably understand how it feels.

Also skip to around 1:25 for when new monsters AKA Monsters from Portable 3rd start appearing in 3G

Nope. My Monster Hunter fix will be on the Vita.

Sorry Nintendo, but your new handheld sucks.
That's why they are putting it out on 3DS, to boost sales. Also there isn't any new MH titles on the horizon for the Vita...

MH for the Vita has all but been confirmed, with how popular the games are on the PSP, do you really think there won't be any of them on the Vita?

I just didn't think very soon is all. But still that leaves the question if they plan on bringing these to the west.

The Vita is region free.

As far as has been said so far, it isn't coming to the Vita.

Take a look for yourself. Don't know if that means it's never coming, but with the way things have been going with Monster Hunter of late (Tri being on the Wii and this announcement currently that it's so far planned for the 3DS only)I'd take a guess and say that Capcom is moving to Nintendo's side.

I bet anything that Monster Hunter 4 will be a timed exclusive for the 3DS and then later ported/enhanced for the Vita. I mean this is CAPCOM, it's just the sort of thing they would do especially given how stupidly popular and successful the franchise is on the PSP.

Nintendo must have paid a shit ton of money to get this thing on the 3DS given the systems rather shaky position right now. CAPCOM would be stupid not to make a MH for the Vita, and we all know how much they love money.

I'm sure MH3G will be good on the 3DS, not a fan of the series myself but still a very good anchor game for the system that's bound to move a lot of units.

...No...No...I don't like being this but I don't want to see the series go to the 3DS. I didn't like Monster Hunter Tri going to the wii and I don't like this...I know I'm probably just whining but still...Yeah I'm still going to get them but, I just hope they're decent

Well, I for one actually LIKE my 3DS. It's Monster Hunter that I'm not too sure of. I tried the demo for Monster Hunter Tri on Wii, and couldn't get into. Might have been my lack of a Classic Controller. Should I try Monster Hunter Freedom Unite on PSP or something?

Monster Hunter Tri with the classic controller is a necessity, the Wiimote just can't cut it.

The reason I didn't get the PSP games is because of the lack of a second analog stick, which means that if you want to manipulate the camera and move your character at the same time, you need to utilise 'the claw', which means having your index finger at a crooked angle so you can reach the d-pad.

The reason they haven't announced anything for the Vita is because if they do then no one will buy the 3DS version. The Vita will have better graphics and better online, I'm guessing 6 months - 1 year after MH4 is released we will get an announcement for the Vita. If it really was exclusive then Nintendo would have bragged about. Also Capcom doesn't really like exclusives, remember the Capcom 5?

That doesn't stop the japanese version from being in japanese. So unless you can read the language, localization is still an issue.

Amen to that. All of the above were practically "The 3DS SUCKS make them for the No Games Portable."

Yes they're coming to places besides Japan, it's pretty much been confirmed because Monster Hunter 3G is being bundled with the analog stick addon, so I might just pick it up so I have a reason to own one before Dream Drop Distance comes out.

The game always seemed to have been ideal for handheld play, so I'm not quite sure about buying a Classic Controller for it.

It's Monster Hunter, there's next to no story to be bothered about and there are plenty of online wikis to lookup the stuff you need to know.

But yes, it is an issue, and I'd rather have it in English.

Well if you don't want to buy one, you don't want to buy one.

Tri was my first game in the series and I loved every second of it, plus it's the only MH console game outside of Japan and the online is solid.

Yeah, while I want quality games to come to Vita (I really want one of those too). I don't get all the 3DS hate at all. It's not a bad handheld, just rushed out for some reason. All the hate because it doesn't have a second analog stick? Really? Or is it the Nintendo name?
