It's inevitable. Your brain hits the 'Too Much Information' line or goes into 'I Just Don't Care' mode and something - be it important or trivial - flies right out of your head, never to return. This is something your brain does to prevent itself from retaining anything it really doesn't need. It goes into read-only mode, smiles and nods, but records nothing. BUT...you probably have a record of the stuff that left the barn before the doors were closed.

I'm sure this happens to everyone. What's in YOUR empty basket?

I voted for hypnotism in the poll, but that's mostly because of my weird, weird sexual fetishes.

Well I"m shit with names. I also have a weird blind spot for blonde women apparently. They're like fucking gray men to me.

Edit. Also I'm disappointed it's not a frying pan to the head just to spite Krieger.

What I can never seem to remember is white women's faces. I don't mean to offend anybody, but there are so many white women with ponytails where I live that it's impossible to tell them apart for me.

To add to this, period dramas which are about identical white guys in identical black suits. Especially when they all have the same haircut and always talk about the same stuff.

Which one is the murderer again? Someone was murdered, right?

Have you ever heard of being faceblind? I read about it in Wired magazine, I think. Our brains do some messed up stuff. I have extreme difficulty with names and dates; people I've known for years, their name suddenly just disappears.

Omg that's adorable!

OT: The thing that generally causes me to loose focus the most is someone trying to lord authority over me. Regardless of weather it's that they're in charge of me, especially when they're not, or as if they're the world's authority on a subject. It just makes me tune out.

Edit: Also names. I can usually place a face, but I need to hear someone's name two or three times before I can be sure I'll remember them by both face and name.

People trying to preach their religion to me, or some form of conspiracy theory bullshit. I hear them start talking, and my brain just sort of switches off. I've heard your bullshit rationale before, no it doesn't impress/convince me, you're believing a fairy tail that you were spoon fed as a kid. And no, the government didn't orchestrate 9/11, and have mockup jumbo jets filled with explosives that they moved into place to perfectly take over the flight paths of the planes on 9/11. And somehow redirected those flights without anyone spilling the beans on this thousands of people wide conspiracy. You're full of shit, get over it.

Also when they try and use religion to justify political motivations, such as the ban on anything gay. Sorry, the only rationale you have is that your invisible sky father says (or at least you say he said) that gayness is bad, and so you try and pass laws about it. *yawn* I'm done listening to anything you have to say for life. Thanks.

catchpa: righty tighty.

Oooooh, catchpa knows what I like.

OT: Anything academic that isn't Maths related. I mean, I could watch a casual scientific documentary, and even enjoy it, but anything deeper than that and I lose interest.

Most often? Being really bored. But it also happens with stuff that I really try to understand, but fail to, either due to my own stupidity or the people explaining it to me being incompetent.

Statistics and numerical functions...Oh god...

Oh, and people going on tangents about unrelated shit. I've agreed to help out at a wedding tomorrow, and those of us who are going (Me, my friend, the cousin of the groom's mother and some other lady) met up yesterday to look at the list of things that needed to be done. However, the cousin kept jumping around in the program (Which confused me like you wouldn't believe), asking questions which were already answered in the schedule if she'd bothered to read it and, of course, started to ask about unrelated shit that had nothing to do with our tasks,

"What color flowers are there?" "Where will the bride's parents sit?" WHO THE FUCK CARES?! THAT IS NOT OUR JOB! THEY HAVE THEIR SEATS, THEY KNOW WHERE THEY'LL SIT!

Eventually, I got so confused and bored that I gave up listening to them. All the info we needed was written in the schedule anyway. I don't understand why we didn't just sit down with it and talked about the points - That's what I thought was going to happen...

Finance and Law.

The moment I hear the word, "hedge fund" or "motion to continue" my brain switches off and my mind starts wandering. A bit of a pain, considering I work for lawyers, and it really keeps me from understanding anything my father says about work, since he's an investor.

Oh, and then there's programming terminology. I enjoy programming, but strongly dislike being educated in how to program. With a bit of context, it can be made interesting for me, but hearing about a line of code with no explanation of what it is being used to accomplish will make me lose interest, doubly so when I'm reading it from a textbook.

My ability to tune in anything is pretty poor if I was just playing a video game or browsing the internet less than a minute ago. I seem to experience a bit of summoning sickness when I'm forcefully pulled back into the real world.

Sports are probably the worst for me. Two of my friends are very into soccer, which can be annoying. Absolutely the fastest way to lose my attention. Probably the most boring topic I know.

Directions. I cannot do them, cannot at all. It's a good thing I live in an age of GPS, because in another age I'd have been eaten by wolves some dark night.
This. My sense of direction is based entirely on sight and familiarity. I don't know street names, towns, districts, or boroughs so if I look around and I don't know where I am, that's a wrap. Granted, my circle of familiarity is rather large at this point, but if I even slightly deviate from it, there's no telling where I'll end up. After three days in the desert sun, no bundle could I find upon me stick a wobblin'. ...wait.

Other people's love lives. It's a double whammy, making me both lose interest in the subject almost instantly and also begrudging the speaker their happiness.

Irony... You would think I would, at least, have some casual knowledge about that, but nope...

Other than that, the inner algorithms of TMZ and the like... I may be "nosy" when I need to, but I just can't with them, you know?

Things which don't interest me. Sports other than road cycling, MOBAs, what my grandmother did today, etc. Also, what all of these people around me are called.
