I have yet to find a place were it is cheaper at retail than steam, or other internet shops.
Gamestop in Denmark is still selling MW2 for release price

I don't understand... what is this 'retail' that you speak of...? :T
Beats me. They still sell PC games in stores? I wouldn't even know where to go to find them. I get the majority of mine from Steam, but I'll get them from anywhere else that has a good deal that I can trust. I do have a small handful of boxed copies that I got off Amazon in the past few years because they were marked way, way down and cheaper than Steam or anywhere else, but I can't even remember the last time I bought a PC game in a store instead of ordering it online or something. It honestly might've been in the 90s.

I like to have original copies. But mostly it depends on the price and availability of the game. If I can get a game on steam for 2 ? where I would have to pay 15 ? at the store I choose steam. Most of the time, though, the games on steam are more expensive, so I go to the store, most of the time.

I go only for the bargain bins.
The problem is that I can't find big titles in English here so I have to go to the foreign amazon.co.uk to get them anyway. Stupid incompetent synchronistion makes the game completely unenjoyable - 90% of the time.

I have lost too many CDs and/or CD codes to justify buying any more physical PC games anymore. GoG and Steam are my two online retailers of choice. I have been very satisfied with my conversion to digital and have 0 reasons return to retail.

only special editions pre-ordering TES V at my local toy store gives me a cloth map whilst the steam version only gives me a TF2 hat.
also you can find good deals on games in bargain bins.

Well, I pre-ordered Saints Row: The Third in hardcopy from THQ. And I bought Portal 2 from Amazon not long before. Sometimes, oddly enough, it's possible to get a better deal with physical copies. But with an increasing number of games requiring some kind of online verification or the presence of a Steam or Origin just to work, it is admittedly becoming harder to find a benefit.

I,m pretty sure that if you install steam in a foreign it keeps the games in that language (for example I live in Holland and installed Steam in English and it runs the games in that language)

I'll be starting again! Let me explain: I moved to another city, and the phone company with whom I signed a DSL contract (Vodafone - don't do business with those fuckers!) won't set up my access point until the 26th of next month. So now I'm stuck with shitty mobile internet that's costing me a fortune, and I can't access my Steam library. Don't get me wrong, I love Steam, and I absolutely love that I can access all of my purchased software from anywhere, and I love those sales! But, and this is a really huge but, I kinda want to play Skyrim at some point...

I buy mine at a local online store that sends the game home to me[footnote]Those times I really want a physical copy of the game[/footnote], I guess that doesn't count as retail store?

Not really. I get most of my games on the cheap during Steam sales. The last time I bought a PC game full price was Portal 2 which I pre-ordered on Steam to get a free copy of Portal. I can't even remember the last time I bought a boxed PC game for myself. Of course, I can't remember the last time I saw a store with a decent selection of PC games in stock either, so that's likely why.

I do know that the last time I got boxed PC games was Fallout 3 from my brother as a birthday gift this year and Fallout New Vegas as a Christmas gift last year. I already knew that NV was just an install disc so I didn't have to download the entire thing from Steam first, but I just about crapped myself when Fallout 3 made me keep the disc in my computer to play. I didn't know disc PC games still did that. I thought that these days they just tie everything to an account and let you forget the disc exists.

Yes, but steam is awfully expensive here, because the prices are bound to our regional currency (?uro]. We pay ?50 for a standard AAA Title while in Britain you pay more than 20% less are the prices in Holland better?
Steam is just a "bargain bin" alternative when it's offering something on sale.

BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAH 0_0 Oh your serious BWAHAHAHAH XD

OT: Sorry to be a bit trollish there but honestly was the first thing that came to my head. Honestly? No the local store kept moving my PC section to smaller then to a point where there were 5 games on display but then the next day they were gone. Want to know the messed up thing? The store that removed the PC section a few months later complained about how steam was stealing sales. Well to them I say. Fuck You.

New releases I tend to buy at online retailers, yes. Otherwise I often buy it on sale, be it digital distribution or online retail. I never buy from game shops though, rip off prices usually.

Hardly. Why bother when retail is a good 20% more pricey, and Steam/Play/Amazon is much easier :p Also, the Pc section in Retail is limited to those crappy detective quest games.

As a reformed PC gamer, I used to buy physical copies for PC games.
However, like developers and disc manufacturers, I jumped off that sinking ship.

hard to find a store that stocks more than 5 PC games at a time in my area

Digital distribution = easier, no disk/cd key to fool with, costs the same or less + no gas expenditure to get it and a LOT better selection
