This and the whole chance of death thing kinda puts me off, I'd rather have the lesser chance of death in the real world thanks xD

Hell no. Knowing my luck, this is a future wherein I still can't maintain a decent connection to the internet and end up dying via lag. It sounds interesting sure but I would never put my life in the hands of something as flimsy and easily broken as my internet connection.

Watched two episodes of it so far, I'll give it that I don't find it quite as bad as most other anime. The concept is interesting.

It still suffers from the, in my opinion, common flaw that characters don't seem to act in any way or form as consistent personalities but rather as plot devices. Their actions and decisions don't seem to stem from any internal reasoning but rather purely to move the story to whatever point the writer has planned next.

If the writer has planned a cool moment to finish off the episode a character will suddenly act all bad-ass out of nowhere. If the writer has planned a romantically awkward scene a character will suddenly act all shy and if the next scene calls for a different behavior to move the plot forward then they'll act like that. It seems all designed to take viewers from one artificial emotional high to the next.

I hated the anime.

I wouldn't go for a virtual reality game mostly because the setting&game-play isn't my cup of tea. I'm not an MMO man.
