I hate days like this, when 2 games you've been looking forward to for a while come out on the same day and you can only afford one without dipping into the red! Especially when both seem to have had luke-warm receptions and reviews. I've attached a poll to this, and il check it before i go to gamestation tommorow and i'l get whichever you guys vote for!

Anyone tried either?

Argh. I'd say Dead Island, but Space Marine is just so much fun. If you want a fun multiplayer and fun shooty-hacky-sashy-blow-shit-up gorefest, albeit with a disappointingly short campaign, Space Marine is your thing. If you want a scary, gory (not in a fun way. A kind of "Oh God I feel dirty" kind of way), long and intriguing game, get Dead Island.

If you can't decide, get Dead Island first and Space Marine second. Also, ignore the reviews, both are really great.

I have no experience with the Warammer franchise but I took Dead Island for a spin and... it's good... Nothing you've ever seen before, yet so very eerily familiar.

If you haven't already got Deus Ex, get Dead island. Despite it's NUMEROUS glitches, it's really good. Kinda like Bethesda games.

Also i add, im not sure how it works in your guys local game shop, BUT, Gamestation here in the UK offer a 10 day return policy, so - could i cain Space Marine in 10 days and then swap it for dead island?

Finished Space Marine yesterday. The campaign is a rather short affair (7-10 hours), but it's fun, and so is the multiplayer. Not terribly much variety, but I think it'll keep me entertained for a few weeks.

-EDIT-
If you haven't played the new Deus Ex yet, do that - it's much better than Space Marine, and longer too (around 30 hours).

-EDIT 2-

They likely won't take back Space Marine if you redeemed the activation code for multiplayer (needed to progress past level 5 in MP).

I don't personally see the draw of Space Marine.
Dead Island is basically the bastard lovechild of Oblivion and L4D (Minus the latter's horrible approach to the co-op)

Neither, wait until they're cheaper.

If you have to get a game though, Deus Ex is worth the full price I reckon.

Meh, if you gotta get either of those two, then I'd say Space Marine, just because Dead Island doesn't appeal to me.

Save your money until next month, or pick up some of the smaller titles coming out this month, like Hard Reset, Red Orchestra 2, Story of Issac, or Tropico 4.

I guess it would just depend on what kind of game you are looking to play, if your looking for something that is going to take a while to complete and more rpg I would say Dead Island. If your looking for some slashing/gun play action then Space Marine has that in droves, I played through Space Marines campaign and a little multi-player and it kicks lots of ass.

looks like invisible poll option "get Deus Ex HR instead" is winning

Dead Island looks interesting, though I hear it's really buggy

I haven't played dead island but space marine is very fun. sure it's not deep, or long. Yet the multiplayer is some serious fun. I've never felt like a complete ninja online until i played an assault marine :), its also surprisingly balanced.
