He's not forcing anyone to watch his show so he's not doing anyone any harm.
I'm no expert but is Jim taking up a slot that could be used by someone better? Lisa or Doraleous maybe?

I don't find him very funny, he portrays himself as an obnoxious ass and talks about how awesome he is then says that he's joking? I don't really get it. The parts I enjoy are the voice over parts where he talks normally and presents a good arguement but when he's on screen again it's like AAgghhhhh. go away!
Absolutely right. This couldn't be more accurate.

I enjoy the show, now. I didn't so much at its beginning, because it didn't seem to be about anything important, which is the same problem I had with Lisa Foiles. His more recent contributions, such as "Weird is not Enough" entice me, and bring up points in gaming I don't see many other people take the time to talk about it. And I like the more toned down tongue-in-cheek thing he's doing now, emphasizing the arrogance as a comedic point rather than the character quality it seemed to be in the earlier episodes.

When he has a relevant point that comes from his experience within the industry. He's great. So far his escapist vids haven't shown this.
Ha! That was the video that kept me watching!

I've seen every one of his episodes on the Escapist so far, and I still don't get if hes trying to be funny or serious. And the fact that he has his head completely stuck up his ass. In conclusion no, because it seems like hes just there to talk about whatever he wants to talk about and not in an amusing way like Moviebob.

I think his humor is often misplaced, and seems ignorant in the midst of his 'oh so serious' arguments, that he is right, and he is the perfect being.

I understand his humor and what he is trying to do with it, but he is not charismatic enough to pull it off. Imagine some of his jokes presented by Yahtzee (he would never do that), they would be so much better.

Also he seems narrow-minded on some matters which is a serious drawback since it contradicts his own 'perfect being' jokes (that still aren't funny).

Besides if he doesn't get the humor of the bad-ass Duke Nukem franchise, or more that of the character himself 'DUKE NUMEM !' he is not worthy making assumptions. And he seems to think that Duke Nukem was created to be some sort of role model for coolness, but he thinks it's stupid and immature because Duke likes blowjobs and punching aliens in the nuts. . Well, maybe Jim just isn't that manly himself, because I would say those were two of the most awesome and manly things in the world !

I enjoy it for the same reasons I enjoy Yahtzee's stuff. It's blunt and honest. Now you may not always agree with him, or necessarily find him funny, but it's an honest opinion from someone who works in the games journalism industry, without any bullshit or corruption. So yeah, I guess I do like his show.

I think the real problem with Jimquisition is that it lacks a clearly refined personality and purpose. The first episode set us up for something different compared to the episodes that followed.

At first it seemed like a different take on the "angry video game nerd" idea, which I think I could go for, since it was much more contemporate. Then it deflated to something... still undefined.

I love how he talks about people not playing the games (or watching a movie) properly. "If I played a game improperly it's not my fault, it's your fault for not communicating properly how the game is meant to be played"

I love this because his videos have the same problem. That most people don't get his humor and he insults those people who don't get it. Clap Clap Jim, you have become the thing u just paid out.
Watch the video and then apply it to his current escapist ones. Halrious!

Jim: The humor in your current videos are weird and we don't get it and according to the above video that would be entirely your own fault so don't say that people who don't get your humor are idiots. Thank you.

Im thinking its more to do with the escapist probably asking him to fill a niche, and him adapting (not very well) to fill it. Because he did used to be good. The only thing that's changed is the place of the uploads. And such a request wouldn't suprise me (it's not even an unethical thing lol).
Doesn't change the fact that he's not very good at the moment.

They are two great things. But their also very shallow 2D things. And in this era of deep involving characters i don't think duke can stand toe to toe with them. When marcus fenix has more depth than you, it's time to do some thinking.
Oh yeah, don't get me wrong, I would never compare Duke Nukem as a character to that of Marcus Fenix, but there should be no need. That would be like comparing Super Mario to Bruce Wayne, and say that Uper Mario is a shallow and very unrealistic character that should never have existed.

Duke Nukem is extremely shallow, but he is funny as hell, and that is why people play the game.

In this day and age we have the technology and experience to make immersive videogames and characters, but that does not mean that every game should have that. Minecraft is the perfect example of an awesome game that is neither character nor story driven.

And Duke nukem is yet another example of this..
It's just two different genres of games, and then you play whatever you feel like and choose your game from what mood you are in: realistic immersive characters, or fun and shallow humorous characters.

Not everything on the escapist has to be about furthering the medium and developing the industry and why being a game designer is the hardest, most emotionally challenging occupation there is. Some stuff can just be there for entertainment.

Why is there a new poll over jim every day ?

And yes, i like him, he's 10X better then Lisas stupid top five.
The only reason most people don't like him is that they are not capable of understanding his humor and he is no chick.

Sex sells, thats all.

Just another also-ran wanna-be internet personality with some opinions to blurt out and little style, presentation or presence. After the first episode, I was hardly impressed, seemed sub-youtube in both effort put into it and final quality. After the second, I'd gladly do without having to look at his pseudo-smug image with the stereotypically cool goblet or whatever he's supposed to be drinking out of.

Space on the escapist could be better spent surely.

Well, when I see any videos, he might make a somewhat valid point, but it's one I could get off just about any semi-informed gamer; his delivery is poor; his persona is completely unlikeable, but not funny enough to make up for it.

And yes, I watched the "You're playing it wrong" video, which was recommended as his best. Still unimpressed. The point is, again, largely obvious, and stuff like that's brought up in a much more eloquent, yet still funnier way, over on Rock Paper Shotgun.

So no, Jim gets no more chances from me.
