I have all three consoles. I mostly use the Xbox 360, but the PS3 is better in my opinion. Both are great systems though. Here are just some things I consider pros pros for each. The 360 has pretty good online, and my friends own it, but you have to pay for online. While the PS3 has better graphics, and free online that is also pretty good, though I have had more lag on PS3 then on 360. They both have a good set of exclusives also. Really either one would be worth it.

I personally prefer the PS3...It won't over heat nearly as much, and Microsoft can't rip you off as easily if you don't own their system.

Also, free online gameplay, good games, blu ray, there's so many reason to go with a PS3.

I have a PS3, but know a fair deal regarding the Xbox360 due to working at CS on there.
For me, the main benefit of PS3 is the exclusive titles. There are simply a larger number over the Xbox that work for me.
However, the marketplace of Xbox is far superior. The amount of creative arcade and indie games that are exclusive for the Xbox is almost mindblowing. Simple, cheap fun.
I like the PS3 dashboard and the controller much more. It makes more sense to have the analog sticks in the middle, and d-pad to the side. The trigger buttons are slightly better on the Xbox 360, but comparing the button placement and triggers, the PS3 controller wins. Why was I talking about controllers? Because they're a vital point to gaming experience.

Graphic wise, I'd say that on most TV sets available to average folk (i.e. me), the difference is minimal. I know that Lara Croft: Guardian of Light lags like hell on the PS3, but I dunno about Xbox 360 version.

The Xbox 360 S has more USB ports than the PS3. That is vital if you have real friends. On the PS3, it's so annoying that I have to recharge my wireless controllers before attempting a 4 or 3 player game.

Live service and communication is better on the Xbox, but the PS3 can probably excuse that by offering it free.

Anyways, if you're into serious gaming, I would suggest a PS3 just for the exclusives that you can't play on any other platform. But if you're more casual, community and fun driven gamer, then the Xbox can be a better option.

About WII, I played it, hated it, won't buy it, won't recommend anyone to buy it.

I got a PS3, but I prefer gaming on the Computer.

If my brother wasn't here, the thing would be choked up with dust right now.

I have a Playstaion 3, why? because i've had 1 and 2 before it, i'm used to them wouldn't think of changing to another console even if someone claimed it was the greatest thing ever.

Oh and don't xbox users still have to pay for online? I don't like the sound of that at all.

Bah humbug to all of you and your xbox live and PSN and Wiiware, the best online ever was Sega Channel by far! Full games 12 bucks a month? Yes please!

I take no sides in the console wars! I love them all!

if u really want to play game I would want to get a 360, If u want a overpriced blu-ray player then get a PS3
The PS3 has games, just no backwards compatability. I'll give that one to you. Now if you'll kindly stand, I would like to hand you your own ass. *ahem*

While the PS3 only plays PS3 games(unless you were lucky enough to get one of the first two waves), It does play blu-ray discs. Big whoop. Not a huge selling point, but one enough.

The online access is free. I say online access because not only do you get free multiplayer, but...

The PS3 has a browser. You don't need to install windows or linux on it to browse the internet at least. I use my browser all the time when I'm watching a movie or gaming. Of course...

Most of my movies are digital copies, and the nice thing about a PS3 is that it plays digital copies. You can rent movies online, if you so choose(I think it's netflix or one of their competetors. Anyway). You can install music and movies right to the harddrice and operate it like any computer would. Some of the codecs are a little buggy, but if you put in the effort anything eill work.

So the only real reason I see in getting an xbox is for the exclusives. If you want to play Halo, get an xbox. If you don't care about Halo, don't give it a second look. Get a PS3. It's twice the price, but I promise you'll keep it twice as long. And who knows, maybe someday they'll give us a downloadable emulator to bring back the backwards compatability.
All PS3 models support PS1 games, physical and digital. So, it doesn't only play PS3 games.

Don't believe anyone saying that XBL has more people playing online. Fact is PS3 has more active games, so the population of each individual game might look slightly smaller but there more people playing it online.

You should read on every exclusive on each console and decide. Or just look at next year's lineup and see no other option but to get a PS3 :D

Anyone that's had one of the consoles for long enough will always side with their own.

I've had the 360 and PS3 for a while now, and (being an online multiplayer obsessive) my PS3 just seems to gather dust. Until it has a party/chat system which is even close to matching the 360's, I'm generally not that interested in it.

Can't you just keep them always charged ? :X They last like 10~12 hours and only take 2~3 to fully charge. I have 3 DS3 controllers and just rotating them every day having 1 controller charging each time keeps them always fully charged. Besides, you can always connect to a pc usb port to charge, or use any usb charger...

I have all 3 and a gaming computer, although the ps3 I only got because I got it with tickets from Dave and Busters (before they got really cheap near me and made it impossible to win). I use my xbox360 and my computer about even now. It depends on what I want to play, but my ps3 just gathers dust and my Wii I haven't really used recently because I'm at college and its at home but I use it.

Not to make lists but Ps3 has free online, which is awesome, and we get awesome exclusives like Uncharted 3, Killzone 3, God of War 3, Infamous 2, and alot more!!! 360 gets... uhm... Gears of War 3?
Gears of War 2 is a game that allowed single-handly for me to buy an Xbox360. No matter how idiotic it might sound. Never regret it and the console choice back in 2008 was pretty obvious for me.

Xbox360: Has already great exclusives that year + huge library
PS3 : Promise of great titles. Personally for me Killzone 2 and the lololol "Launch" GT5

Not to be a douche, but multiplatform games on the consoles, if you have both, go for the 360. PS3's 90% ports from 360. Thus inferior all the damn time. Be it graphical/technical.. Hence why the Blu-ray capability/storage is only used on big ass exclusives. Granted, most are single player but Killzone 3 might make me buy a PS3. But Gears 3 will kick some ass son, dontchuu worry about that!
Well I bought Ps3 2008 because of MGS4 =) And people go on and on about multiplats being inferior on Ps3, but I don't see it, it's only sometimes with bad devs, like the ps3 version of Mafia 2 was horrible, but I have a Ps3 and PC so I get em all^^

I'm a PS3/PC, PS3 and XBox are pretty similar, most games come out on both systems.
Although my cousin just got an xbox for christmas today, he's loving it but, its been an utter nuisance, controllers out the box not working etc., and theres a number of things xbox does which just annoy me, like the inability to change, credit cards, gamertag, etc.
Of course this is probably just us, and I guess its personal preference as to which one you prefer.

I would have agreed a few months ago, but there is a bunch of good games out now.. And even more comming up.

Besides.. My 360 have broken down twice, my friends 360's have all red ringed and needed repairs.. Well.. All except one.

One out of 6...

Besides, PSN is free.

Mostly use PC, also have a PS3 and Wii (and older systems). 360 is nothing but a waste of money in my eyes.
