I've got a very powerful pc and I own both major consoles. I will be getting a ps4 so I think my living room gaming needs will be met.

It sounds nice to have my steam library in a convenient living room box, but I much prefer my keyboard and mouse for pc games and it being on the TV doesn't make the pc somehow magically better at multiplayer.

As a PC gamer I have zero interest in a steambox. I build my own rigs, and I very much doubt steamboxes will have the same price/performance ratio as a custom built rig. SteamOS on the other hand, is interesting, especially if it provides a noticeable performance boost. If it does, I'll dual boot it for sure.

I've got a low spec server below my TV anyway so I might have a look at the core streaming program when it comes out, it'd be a cute feature to add.

I don't have a TV worth playing modern games on to get one. Hell, I don't even know if you can even connect the Steam Box to a TV without HDMI. If I did have a TV worth playing on I'd probably use Big Picture instead. I can't afford the other consoles either so I don't see myself getting a Steam Box.

Will be interesting to see how it'll do though.

My current PC runs games just fine for now and if i wanted to game in my living room i would simply do it. I might consider getting it if for some reason my PC broke beyond repair or if it got too old for AAA titles, still i need more info about steambox before i even start considering it. I might not even bother trying Steam OS, not all of my games are from steam and a lot of other apps wouldn't work with it, besides i'm not that bothered by windows 8, personally i think it was a major improvement from 7, but that might just be me because 7 refused to cooperate with some drivers and got real slow after a few months of use.

Not sold on the Steam box just yet as I have a fairly decent PC and we don't know how much they will cost or perform, but I certainly will install Steam OS on my rig as it's already outputting to a HDTV.

The principal is great however so it's probably just a question of time for me.

My livingroom media/gaming PC is ready for SteamOS already. Even though it's specs are ok, streaming games from my far superior main PC is a big plus.

After some more looking into it, it seems that I might just end up getting the steam controller (once it proves to be what it's advertising) The stream function doesn't really appeal to me as I don't have a gaming pc to begin with and the limited games that I'll be able to play in that case (seems it'll be a bit before they iron all of that out) will kind of defeat a good deal of it's purpose.

I'll probably just see if i can scrounge a decent current gen pc together and wait.

I guess the main reason it appeals to me is that i can just pack it around when i go hopping around different towns/cities (like a console). I move around alot and find just finding a cheap tv is alot easier then lugging one around with me (I pack what i can carry/take onto a bus). Funnily enough this is why it seems to appeal to me the most. Although unless I can get a compact enough one it'll sort of complicate that...hehe

If the Steam Box is out of my price range, then it will be time to Frankenstein a tower to run Steam OS. Either way it'll be my main gaming rig. I can't wait to get my hands on a Steam controller & see what we can tweak & customize.
