Yeah, read it, and I must say I quite liked it. It's not the best novel ever, but it still ranks in my top 10 I gotta say. A recommendation for everyone who hasn't read it yet!

Yeah, I read it.

It was pretty lousy. There was one good part that stands out and a couple of chuckles to be had.

The rest just felt like a mess of in-jokes that could be accurately summed up as, "MMOs, am I right?"

Yahtzee's humour doesn't really work without the verbal delivery.

If there was another name on the front I strongly doubt it would be praised.

Necroing a bit because I just finished listening to the audiobook and this comment is relevant. I enjoyed the book, but I do feel it did help having him voicing the characters. It allowed him to give off the intention he'd meant for each one. Each character felt unique with their own personality. And while the general narration was a bit lacking and the ending had some jarring audio parts, it felt like it was helped quite a bit by having an actual voice to it. The story itself felt like it held together pretty well even if some parts really durdled a bit. It kept enough interest for me however. But then again I don't really read much and am only just getting into audiobooks. So my taste isn't very refined.

I will say it didn't feel so much like 'MMO's, am I right?' to me. It felt more like it was looking at the effects of what life would be like for characters in an MMO if they were self-aware. There was some riffing on the type of game of course. But the implications of all the things that happened to that 'real' world due to being part of a game were what really kept me interested.
