I'm assuming they'll mostly stick with Windows, as that's what the most people use.
I use Linux (specifically Ubuntu) at work, because it's slightly better as a coding environment, but I use Windows at home.
Some of my work machine's less endearing habits are:
- It refuses to play Youtube videos in Chrome or Firefox until the page has been refreshed several times.
- It goes into complete meltdown if Eclipse (the program I code in) throws a wobbly.
- It loses my screen settings if I unplug the KVM and plug it back in again.
- In over a year of working at the company, I have not once managed to get it to connect to a printer.
My work machine has twice the RAM of any of my home computers, and a far meatier processor. I use both Eclipse and a KVM at home (on Windows) with no problems.
Long story short: At work, I value the extra control that using Linux gives me. At home, I just want things to work! Especially when I'm chilling out playing games.
EDIT: And a I bloody hope they don't move to Macs as the only non-console platform. I do not want to pay Apple's prices to get a gaming machine! Competition is good, people. Having a single hardware provider is not.
