Well we do have trick or treaters in Finland, but it's bloody cold during that time so everyone dresses up as something warm like a really fluffy bunny or a polar bear or something.
But depends, I mean if there are bars like Mars, Twix, Snickers or the likes I'd only take one but if there are small confetti candy I'd nib a few.
As for what I'd dress like. One Halloween I went as a Vampire, one as a Warlock (well I think I actually dressed as a which but as a male I call it a warlock) and then this one Halloween I just dressed comfy and threw soem toilet paper over myself.
And as someone already mentioned it is about 50/50 candy/money over here that we aquire.

I always leave an empty bowl outside with a piece of paper saying 'take one' so people will think some greedy bastard took them all. Saves me at least a tenner.
Well, now I know what I'm doing this year. Or I would, if children lived anywhere near this neighborhood.

Mercifully, it's a gated 55+ community, which means that anyone younger than 55 isn't allowed to live there unless a relative who owned land there dies. Which basically means no children. Woo!

OT: I'd always only take one piece of candy because I followed rules like a chump. Still do.

At the time I would have taken 1. I was firmly in the belief that Santa Claus and God were always watching me and I needed to be a good kid. A year later, I stopped believing in both of those and from that point on I would have taken at least a fistful.

Also, I think that might have been the year in which I was dressed as a really lame looking raptor from Jurassic Park.

Did you miss my comment about not identifying units? One what, exactly? One bologna sandwich? One fistful? A Jupiter mass?
I think that was his point.

Anyhoo... I'd take several pieces. But I'd rationalize it. I'm taking one for myself, one for each of my parents, one for each of my grandparents... At age 10, each of them would still let me have theirs. No need to ask or tell them anything, I know they would.

I would guard the bowl of course, so that no other fiend can make off with the candy!

duuude... triple post, hit that edit button! ...and then the other one.

I would take a single piece, but I'd select it carefully and make sure it's something I like. I was that kind of kid.

...and I'm pretty sure I went as the Dread Pirate Roberts that year.
My mom actually told me:

I didn't have the right sword, though... it had a blue plastic cross-beam blade and a regular longsword hilt >.<

Not all of hit, but probably take two fistful and then run for it. Being in Sweden though we don't really do this. We already celebrate All Saint's Eve on that day anyway.

It depends how enchanted the house looks.

Besides. At least over here we have a mentality of "Don't take Candy from Strangers". It's nice to see that 1 day of the year this piece of advise gets thrown out of the window.

It depends. Are we dealing with candied apples, chocolate bars, mints or hundreds and thosands? Not that I've ever gone trick or treating before, but I'd take one, a couple, several and a fistfull respectively.

Ah, no no no. It says "take on" so I take one. That's all there is to it.

Australian, so I didn't have halloween (That said, I'm totally going to have a belated Halloween/Birthday Party/Post Exams blowout-Gonna dye my hair blonde and go as Kurt Cobain. Hell yeah). But yeah, I'd probably take it all. When I was little, I did all sorts of stupid shit. I once painted a blue stripe around Mum's car. I was told that "Racing stripes made cars go faster"-THIS IS WHY YOU DON'T LIE TO CHILDREN! hahahaha.

Once for "Book Week" we had a dressup day at my primary school. I loved non-fiction, and I'd just learnt about the moon landing, so I went as Neil Armstrong. Mum and I made a suit out of white garbage bags and masking tape, and a control unit out of a corn flakes box, and a helmet out of an egg carton, some cellophane, and an ice-cream bucket. That thing was amazing.

It's actually a fine line. My ten-year-old self would likely have only taken a single piece - or perhaps two, if I was feeling particularly devilish that evening - but certainly no more than that. A year or two later, though (twelve was the last time I trick-or-treated), I would have taken a fistful, without question. Also, what are you talking about, heated SUV? In my day, we walked to trick-or-treat! And, generally, by the end of October, it's getting pretty chilly up here, so layers under our costumes were a must.

As for your bonus, I don't recall what I was dressed as at ten. I think I had a bleeding skull mask and a black robe, but don't quote me on that. That was a decade ago, and the details are fuzzy.

I never went trick or treating when I was younger. My family and I would always stay up late and play a board game/ card game. One of the best things that happened though was my parents bought some grapes and some sprouts. Boil the sprouts while melting a bowl of chocolate. Then dip the grapes and sprouts into the chocolate and leave them to dry so they are all covered in a smooth layer. When the children come along they get to choose "Would you like a trick or a treat?". The greedy ones took a big chocolate (sprout) and the shy or small ones would take a small chocolate. The looks on their faces...

Also my mum is a teacher at a primary school so we usually got egged a bit each year.

I take the amount the sign indicates, because you never know...

I'm probably dressed up as something silly my Mother picked out.

I would take a handful of candy if other people (not including my current group) were around... if no one else was around I'd be a dick and dump the whole bowl into my bag.... and when I was 10 I was Frankenstein (I hit puberty early so I was almost 6' tall by then... haven't grown much since)

I would take one. I grew out of my greedy state when I was 10, so it wouldn't be a problem.

However, if it was a bowl of Milky Ways, I would probably take two. I was a sucker for Milky Ways when I was 10.
