I have never seen a Saw movie, and I doubt I ever will. The idea of watching humans getting tortured to death for entertainment is almost as sad as the fact that everyone seems to be doing it. For my two bits, I'd say that there are plenty of people being tortured out there regardless of whatever movie studio is making money off of it, and I'd prefer to do what I can to help people, instead of watching them be torn apart, hacked up, or have their face blown off by a shotgun. Desensitizing myself doesn't seem to do any good whatever, and I don't see how it would be different for anyone else.
Sir, what you just said isn't much different than the Fox News vs Mass Effect controversy. If you have never experienced something, you can't criticize it.

The way you people talk about Saw makes it sound like it's just a montage of people getting tortured. It's not like that. There is a crazy interesting story that has twists that you never could have predicted. It's interesting to see what the characters do, their past, and how far they can go. I was curious what Jeff was going to do in Saw III, if he could forgive the people that caused the death of his child. I was curious to see what the group was going to do in Saw V.

As for the releases, I'm fine with them. It seems more like an HBO series than movies, but as long as they don't start sucking, keep them coming.

The only Saw movie I've seen is Saw 2, I have no desire to watch anything from that franchise ever again. Just pointless violence, and please stop trying to introduce a story. You don't have on. Stop embarrassing yourself. (I was an usher at a movie theatre, I got to see lots of sections of all movies that came and went)

I just discovered my love for Saw. So yes.

There going up to 8 films far as I know.
But...so far they are all awful films...
There the simple man's answer to the masterpiece that was Se7en. The script is shoddy, the acting is average, and the story is full of clichés, not to mention the whole premise is fundamentally flawed - trying to get people to value life more by putting them in in-escapable positions? Because that makes perfect sense...
/rant
I quite enjoyed the first 3, it's all I've seen so far. Also never seen Se7en.

I've enjoyed the scripts so far and the twists were very good at the end and they were very cleverly written. I find it sad they get labelled as gore films because even tohugh they are they're a lot more than that. They're incredibly deep and psychoilogical. Really made me think. I've never noticed cliches.

And the situations are not unescapable. This will take some epxlaining: [HEADING=2] Spoilers. [/HEADING]

Jigsaw always makes sure theyre in escapable positions. The guys in the first Saw. Amanda in Saw I. In Saw 2 the boy escapes with help from Amanda who also escapes.
The guys who don't escape are victims of Amanda's Games, Jigsaws Apprentice. She didn't get it and murdered them by placing them into un escapable positions. The whole plot of Saw III is that she never understoof what it meant to do what Jigsaw wanted her to do which is why he lets her die. That is why people victims of Amanda don't change as she just murders them whereas Jigsaw puts them in situations where they can change and escape.

So even though you might not like them they are quite clever with a very unique story.

Saw series: Snuff films for people who can't use the internet!
I watched the first film and just thought that it was bad.
I mean the doctor
1) couldn't tell that the guy in the middle was still alive and
2) when the phone was just out of reach from him, why didn't he use that saw (which he used to cut his leg of instead) to pull the phone over.
i can explain this

1) drug to slow down the heart rate, making the pulse faint, hence the doctor being in a state of panic from being chained up wouldnt notice. And besides the flesh mask on the face, would have made the doctor assume that he was dead.

2) edit: oh snap, didnt read that part.

and i probably wont be watching it the first one was good, it wasnt just a gorefest, it was actually ment to have a scary atmosphere. Which i liked it for but the newer ones, well they just went for all out shock tactics and gore, but the twists at the end, were ok.

It went downhill after the 1st one.
I didn't bother watching from 3 onwards, though I might just watch them to see how far it derailed from the awesomeness of the 1st.

Ok. They have made 6 movies in 5 years.
6 movies in 6 years actually.
No...
First one came out in 2004.

2009 - 2004 = 5

Edit: I guess I should be more lenient, I know they don't actually teach you to count in New Zealand.

It came out in 2004, that doesn't mean it was made in 2004.
