I'm the least interested in sports in my family, though I still take up the family duty of loving the Buffalo Sabres (one day the Stanley Cup will be ours) but I don't follow it like my family does. However Whenever I go to a game in real life (besides baseball, baseball sucks) I enjoy the hell out of it.

Since when has ESPN been dumping on the PAC-12? I always thought that with how good the Californian teams have been been in the past it was fairly well regarded.

Also, I curious how you reacted to the news that The Melk man got caught with steroids.
ESPN, to me, always seems to be interested in conferences that have powerhouse teams with a history of winning. Since USC had been flagging in strength for the past few years it seemed like the PAC-12 wasn't getting nearly as much attention as the SEC, Big 12, or Big 10. Oregon was great but they haven't been historically great so it seemed like most of the pundits didn't really give them much time or consideration relative to say LSU or Oklahoma. Although part of that was the loss to LSU as far as last year went.

But from a Stanford fan perspective, the sports media in general ignored us for the most part. Every week my dad and I would eagerly watch the BCS standings and would repeatedly sigh as teams of questionable records move ahead purely because of their conference affiliation. Also, the snubbing of Andrew Luck, not to mention Toby Gerhart, by the Heisman voters was a tough pill to swallow.

And Melky Cabrera...I was saddened by the news but it makes sense. Spikes in performance like that need to be closely monitored nowadays.

I HATE sports, sports stars, sports coverage, sports in schools, EVERYTHING to do with sports. While I can't deny that they do take skill, and I admire that... I'm sorry, but people should not be paid such ungodly amounts for kicking a plastic ball around a fake grass field.

Watching Sports?

Hell no!
Its the most boring thing to do that I don't do even when I have nothing to do as it will only make me more bored.

Playing sports?
Not really my thing, though I will take walks and swim on a regular basis.

i have no objection to people playing sport, but my issues are with professional level sport and its fans, mostly due to the obscene paycheck, inconceivable admiration, and the general stupidity that surrounds them.

essentially i just believe if we took the sheer amount of time/energy/manpower/money/dedication/etc, that sportsmen, the fans and the rest of the industry put into pro sport and pumped it into arts or science or anything more worthwhile, we might have a better place to live on our hands

but i'm aware that's just some of my left over idealism, oh well a man can dream, a man can dream.

No strong opinions either way.
Never been intrested in sports at all and due to an injury I've had since I was 14 I can't run without it kicking up again, so I was never able to participate anyway.

I fucking hate all the attention football gets though(proper football, not your American bullshit). Seeing hooligans at, say an ice skating contest, would be rediculous, so why is it accepted when it comes to that sport only? I'm sure the media is to blame.

I'm into sport at all, sure I got nothing against people who are into it but I don't like watching it. Likewise I don't eactly got a favourite sport and I only support Manchester United cos my family suppose that team (funny how the rest of my relative are Liverppol fan but I don't exactly defend Man United).

This is the worst thing about college football in my book. If you are not one of the 15 or so teams that ESPN has seen fit to cover, you will not be covered at all for the entire season. College Gameday will never visit you, you will never see one of your players get a special segment, you might be a 30 second "this team was decent last week" mention if you're lucky. You will get shafted in all rankings and bowl appearances regardless of how well you did. Stanford's been lucky enough to be in that group once every couple years, but Stanford's not a "real member" of that group.

I don't take time out to pursue it, but I keep up with the cricket, football and rugby, particularly for local teams. NPower Championship is brilliant this season.

Also, Wembley! Go on Rhinos!

Love me some sports.

I play badminton a fair amount, because it's fun and because it's a lot easier to organise than your larger scale team sports.

The only types of sport that I can stomach(watching) is thus;
-Golf
-Basketball
-Kendo
-Any other type of martial art, be it ju-jitsu, tae kwon do, etc.

However, I only enjoy playing basketball, as it one of the few sports that utilize a player's height.

Everything else: I'm lukewarm or disinterested, especially football, for me, watching the sport is about as boring as waiting for an update to download.

Not really my thing. I find team sports boring, and I hate what professional sports have become financially... but I have nothing against a group of people who want to get together and play football (and you can apply your own definition to that word. Either one works for my purposes here) somewhere for fun... I just have no desire to watch or join them.

I love playing sports, even though I'm rubbish, and my friends who like sports can always be relied on to cheer me up with their hilarious dudebro antics. It makes me happy.

Eh. I understand why people like them, but to be honest, you couldn't pay me to give a shit. Like the poll says, it's just not my thing. Although I am a little annoyed that it's considered weird to dress up as your favorite fictional character, but lathering up in the colors of your favorite sports team is totally normal. That's not to say I think the nerds shouldn't be made fun of. I actually want people to be making fun of the jocks.[footnote]"Nerds" and "jocks" being used here for lack of a better word[/footnote]

PS: Anyone else think these captchas that make you type out the slogan of this or that company is a little brain-washy?

I love playing basketball and like to work out (but i haven't in a long time). I barely watch/follow professional leagues just playoffs when the local or national team is involved (baseball and soccer)
