Poll: Star Wars Battlefront II for 5 bucks. Worth it?

So I noticed Steam has put Battlefront 2 on sale for 5 dollars this weekend. Does anyone know if it's worth getting? Does it even get played still? Are there any mods that would make it more enjoyable? Does my lack of faith disturb you?

I don't know, but I'm eagerly waiting for replies to this thread; if it's still played even as much as Battlefield 1942, I'll be grabbing a copy; I can afford $5 on a game like that.

Eh, I'd say no. From what I can tell (I found it in my cousin's PS2 collection) it hasn't aged well. It does have a very devout group of fans, however, so maybe there's something I'm missing.

On the PC? You could probably find someone i guess. I found it worth it, but i had it on the PS2. It was one of my favorite games for the system, and my friends would haven have party nights where we would just organize tournaments with it in the galactic conquest mode.

So yeah, i think it is.

Yes it's worth getting. For multiplayer I don't know since I don't do that but I have managed to get plenty of enjoyment out of the single player portions of it myself. For mods I went on google and found this http://starwarsbattlefront.filefront.com/ but I don't really know anything in particular though there's a good amount of youtube videos too so shouldn't be too hard to find. I find your lack of faith disturbing.

Edit: And so I did. The real question here is whether I can afford the extra $5 to get Republic Commando while I'm at it.

hell fuckin yeah!!! i honestly think that battlefront 2 is one of the best shooters of all time, maybe in a top 50 list. why? it's all about the multiplayer, and that's what we want in a shooter right? of course, it's so old you won't find anyone online if it still is online, but if you put the bot AI's at max you'll still have a lot of fun runnin around in conquest maps

That was one of the best games I ever had for my PS2. I never played online but I probably still put in 150 hours into that game, in fact I think that was the most that I have ever played a game.

I just bought that on the PSN, it was a frikkin fantastic game back in the day, but the psps lack of a dual analog stick means you have to use the actual buttons to move the camera, as in square left, Circle right, X down, triangle up, and it, is, awful.

For the pc or PS3 though, I say hell yeah.

Great balls of fire, yes it's worth five bloody dollars. Even if you never play multiplayer and stick with bots, it's still well worth the money.

It's an awesome game, with large (well, largish) scale engagements between droids and clones, storm troopers and rebels, jedi and sith... bad-ass. Get it.

Buy it now, download Battlefront Conversion pack. It ports over a ton of maps and units from Battlefront 1, and adds new stuff as well.

One of the best multiplayer experiences I've ever had.

Just bought the Republic Commando deal. I played the hell out of the xbox version, it really is such a great game. I wish they'd make a sequel

Battlefront 2 is awesome though, if you don't already have it it's definitely worth $5 I already have it for xbox

I bought it for the Xbox a while back. Not the greatest game ever, and oddly I thought that Battlefront 1 was better, but hey, for 5 bucks, you can't go wrong.

I'd say buy it.

EDIT: I thought I needed to expand my original answer. I would purchase this piece of gaming software due to the increased sense of happiness you will feel immediately following the first match. A sound buy if I may say so.

I had some fun with it back in the day but with games like bad company 2 around, it just cant really compete, I guess the multi might be fun but its probably hard to find people, I would suggest getting republic commando, it was fun as hell on the xbox, think of it as starwars halo
