Buy it now, download Battlefront Conversion pack. It ports over a ton of maps and units from Battlefront 1, and adds new stuff as well.

One of the best multiplayer experiences I've ever had.

1. Buy it
2. Install the unofficial patch
3. Install the conversion pack which adds more content from BF1 and KOTOR
4. ????
5. Profit

I love BF mainly for the space maps, because there are few games like that out there.
So I looked up the conversion pack..

Looks pretty awesome. I just bought the game, downloading/installing now. As for the unofficial patch... why? What does it do? Is it going to make me in-compatible with most online servers?

The unofficial patch just fixes a few things left over from the vanilla game. The Conversion pack I believe makes you incompatible with regular servers, but anyone else playing the Conversion Pack is good to go.

Okay, haha, seriously this is fun. I just played some of the vanilla (1.1 I think) campaign and was laughing the whole time. To anyone who may be asking the same question as me: GET IT! Weeee!

Yeah, sadly you will get booted for joining servers running the official patch. I believe the Conversion pack requires the unofficial patch to work, the patch actually fixes a bunch of stuff the Dev didn't get the time to fix after the last official patch. But then again, I love playing with the AI so that's a non-issue for me. Have fun! :)

Yes if it's for PC, then pop over to Gametoast and Battlefront Files to get some awesome mods and maps.

I remember having a great laugh with that game, not sure how well it's aged though. Only problem is the hero's were really OP. Particularly anyone wielding a lightsaber.

One simple answer.
YES. If you do not buy this you are very unwise. Definitely one of the greatest games of the PS2

After finally getting a chance to play it last night (I bought it on Thursday), I have to say that that was $5 very well spent. It takes (almost) everything I love about Battlefield, and drops a lot of the things I don't like (it's pretty much the only "realistic" shooter I like, and even then the realism detracts slightly from the experience for me.) I can't wait to actually take it online.

Edit: Although the guy who said it has a case of consolitis was right. Weapon switching seems to be set up for toggling, rather than PC-style hot keys. It's not too big of a deal, though.

The game is awesome but the online community is totally dead. The only people I ever see online are fighting the heroes against each other... easily the worst part of that game.

It's all hero on hero? Bummer. The main fun with the heroes is basically turning into a super hero and cutting the enemy mooks into shreds. It doesn't seem to be set up for Jedi Knight style duels.

Which is why I totally bought Jedi Academy when I bought Battlefront 2. There's still quite the steady player base in JA. Yeah I can't understand why that's all I ever saw people playing on BF2 though, my favorite part of the game was Space 2-CTF. Dog-fighting like a muthaaaa!

I had it for the PS2,and after going back and playing it,I realize it's not quite as good as I remember it,but it's still good for the nostalgia.I think the Battlefront games were a lot better on the PS2,but there are some nice mods you can get on the PC.
