Pretty certain that the official site states that it will have a monthly subscription. And also if you factor in playtime your not necessarily paying anymore than you would do for a single player game(infact probably less). I am not an mmo player i just feel this is a commonly overlooked point.meganmeave said:I suppose it depends on how much they plan to charge each month. I really don't like that aspect of MMOs. If they go the Guild Wars route, then definitely yes. But if they charge each month, not likely.
My wallet is not an IV bag that Bioware can tap into.
This is exactly how I feel as about TOR. Never any question, I will not be picking this up.Baby Fark McGee-Zax said:I despise MMOs, so you can imagine how sad I was when I heard that my favorite game series ever was morphing into one.
So no, I will not be playing it. I'll just play through KOTOR again.
I didn't overlook it. Not saying others might overlook this, but I didn't.Mandal0re said:Pretty certain that the official site states that it will have a monthly subscription. And yes i will be playing it i love KOTOR 1&2 i love bioware and i dont have an issue with mmos. so its a no brainer really.
Agreed though.That-Guy said:I don't know. I really like Star Wars, but I'm not a big fan of MMOs.
I might check it out.
[sub] I'd rather have a KOTOR 3... [/sub]
I would expect a monthly subscription fee. If there isnt one great, but i would be highly surprised if there isnt. If Bioware are smart they will undercut WOW as most subscription based MMOs charge the same as WOW so thats the best we can realisticly hope for,a subscription but a comparatively cheap one.meganmeave said:I didn't overlook it. I don't typically play games all in one sitting. I've been playing Fallout 3 for about 2 years now. I mix it up with other games I am playing. If I sat down and played any single game for 20 hours a week then you are right, an MMO would be more value for my buck.
I just don't see level grinding as something I want to pay each month to do and it certainly isn't something I'm going to want to pay continuously for. MMOs are for the most part, level grinding games, imo. I know Bioware promised more storyline, but I'm skeptical even so.
As for the official site, the last time I looked, about 3 weeks ago, they said a pricing structure hadn't been set yet. So it's possible they might not charge. Bioware claims they listen to gamers. If enough gamers said they'd prefer it otherwise, it might happen. I might be overly optimistic, though.

You are very strange.Funkbucket said:imahobbit4062 said:I'm actually worried if they can pull off true RPG elements, since they were basically non-existent. And after beating Mass Effect last night I'm not really eager to play another Bioware game.Undead Dragon King said:I have faith that BioWare will deliver the goods. It might not be Mass Effect 2 quality, but I'm really excited for it.
It was mostly Dragon's Age: Origin's that kicked off my BioWare love,
Mass Effect 2 was a let down, compared to the element's of the first game's exploration.
Yeah, I'm pretty sure they'll do a subscription fee as well. I'm just being optomistic, because if they don't have one, I'd buy it in a heart beat. That would be awesome.Mandal0re said:I would expect a monthly subscription fee. If there isnt one great, but i would be highly surprised if there isnt. And i completely agree with you on grind, there may well be great story elements and i have full confidence in Bioware to pull this off, but there will be grind. Lots of grind. Im fine with that though, dont actually mind grind within reason.
Ha! They should secretly hookup ME2 to a satellite and let the players do all the grunt work. Think your mining for Paladium when you play ME2? Think again! You're actually mining Earth for gamer opinions about Bioware products!Mr. Grey said:Two words: Planet Scanner.meganmeave said:Bioware claims they listen to gamers. Did I jynx us? Don't think so considering it's BioWare; when they screw up, it's intentional.
