Next you will say Fallout was unoriginal and not fun.
Fallout 1 and 2 were wonderful games, though Fallout 3 felt like little more than Oblivion with firearms.

Don't compare starcraft to the likes of Fallout.
I'm talking about the first Fallout and how it affected the RPG genre.

In the same way Starcraft improved the RTS genre.

No, because StarCraft was a bad RTS that was neither fun nor innovative, and SC2 is probably going to be more of the same.
Gotta agree. But it was fun with cheats, otherwise it's just to difficult and unfair.

EDIT: forgot to say, I'm looking forward to SC2.

It's a religion. They must have done something right.

I've never seen the game as "unfair or very difficult" it just needs pratice and skill, and also as a terran player i useally survive thoes bloody rushes. gotta love the bunker :3

Well , here's the issue: When a game requires practice and skill i.e lots of time just to START being fun, something's wrong. It's safe to say Starcraft was intended for a more "pro" type of gamer, rather than a casual one, and, other than the thrill of beating your opponent, there isn't any fun to be had in it. Read Alert always has the cool music and wacky unit designs, Halo always has the "most over the top kill your ever made" thing, Warcraft has its backstory and lore etc. Starcraft is BUILT around it's professional gamer userbase, and that makes it bad in my opinion.
Well, at least you have a reason to hate it, but if you do not like competitive gaming then maybe you should not state that it is "crap".

I mean, I am not a fan of the Final Fantasy series, but I do not think the games are crap, I think they are just not aimed at me.

Ill agree that Starcraft is Built around its Fanbase but thats the point. The fans wanted this game and Blizz is gonig all out to support it. although they did take out some really good units <R.I.P. Firebat, Good riddance reaver> Sometimes blizz over does it and it kills the Fanbase to grow, but looking at the game right now. and its actually very well balanced

I'm more interested in the SP campaign anyways, so I'm not gonna join the beta to see how well the MP that I don't plan on using works.

If this seems fun to you ,than Starcraft 2 is made for you and you'll enjoy it a lot. If not , watch it again and tell me it isn't the first one with (still old by today's standards) prettier graphics.
Yep, it looks fun. I may not be a pro-starcraft player, but this game has more to it than building a bigger army than your opponent. It's got strategy involved.

Let me ask you something: Do you like chess?

EDIT:
Damn. Sorry about the epic bump.

man, saw that 23 minute match above, very fast paced and strategic...I always sucked at RTS. I was always too frightened of sending out my units in case they died xD Id just get loads of defence up in my base and wait for someone to nuke me.

Ive signed up for all Blizzard betas, even all the WoW ones. Im actually glad that they are doing their betas properly asking for computer specifications and such now. Hopefully they are a bit more careful with selection since like 3/4 people that they let in are there to play the game and not test it.. which is a shame.
