It's meant to be about 30 missions, which is the same amount (give or take a few) of the original SC.

In fact I think the original SC was about 26-28 missions.

Broodwar was about the same. Considering Wings of Liberty+Zerg+Protoss are all meant to be the same length in SC2, you're looking at ~90 missions over three titles as opposed to ~60 missions over 2 which we saw in SC1.

Those well versed in basic division will realise these are the same numbers.

Seems like you obviously have forgot about what is in the pack. You forgot the book which has a ton of art (which would usually go for quite a bit), you forgot the comic,
I did not forget, I simply consider them worthless.

and never judge something on movie prices. They are extremely overpriced,
So that would mean, the extra video content is worth even less. Because you know, if something is overpriced, it's value is less than it's selling price.

and you get to look at how the game is made.
I already know how the game is made. If you meant the commentary, again, not interested.

Anyways no one said you had to spend $100 on this game,
And have I ever claimed that? Do not jump to conclusions or put words into my mouth. "if anyone actually thinks I'm going to pay 100 dollars for such a rip-off, they're wrong." That is all I said, and that was in regards to the CE package. This was an expression of an opinion, as to why I think the CE pack is vastly overpriced and how little of actual value it contains.

and who knows how big the campaign is until we have played it through?
Do notice the funny little two-letter word if I put in that sentence back then.

10 IF "$SC2:WEGamelenght" >= "NormalFullPricedGamelenght" THEN GOTO 20 , ELSE GOTO 30.
20 Buy SC2:WE
30 End

My main concern is how much this will cost me as a resident of Iceland. One hundred dollars is fine, but it will almost certainly cost me more.

I also wonder if there will be collector's editions of the expansions, and how much they will cost. I'm not sure I'd pay a hundred bucks for each expansion.

Another concern of mine is the WoW pet. As someone who doesn't play WoW, I'd like to be able to sell the pet later. Unfortunately, I can find no information about whether this will be bound to one's Battle.net account, or if it'll be redeemable via a special code.

Yea, but assuming the first 5 or so are probably gonna be tutorial missions.

If you don't already own StarCraft and Broodwar, then it's pretty good deal. If you don't, and aren't interested in the bonus material, then just get the game itself. Simple as that.

All colector's editions are money grabbers and there only worth it if you think there worth it. That makes it worth 100 dollars if your korean or you really want that dog tag. I only mention koreans because its pretty much a sport over there.

Well you are entitled to your own opinion, however I am a fan of blizzard and I do enjoy art and comics, and I find that many of the things in the CE I would enjoy. If you don't think it is a good buy then don't buy it, however don't shoot things down that you don't like because of opinion. I wouldn't buy a CE for Bioshock 2 or MW2 because well, that isn't my cup of tea. However something like SC2 is, and I will be buying the CE, no matter what you say because I do not find many of those things "useless."

Blizzard could ask me for my left nut and at this point I would give it to them if it meant I could play this game that I have been waiting for for over a decade.

Wait..........

Do you need all of the games (I.E., the rest of the damn race's games) to play Battle.net to its full capacity?

I was just curious, cause I don't care about Starcraft II's campaign.

In Australia a new console game costs about 110 dollars, which is about 100 dollars American, so I wouldn't complain so much.

Also, who cares if the collectors edition costs so much, that's what the normal edition is for.

Ha, and people call EA money hungry.
Yeah but it's clearly all Activision's fault even though Blizzard has and continues to act independent of them [/sarcasm]

In any event I enjoy how much people are willing to be ripped the hell off by Blizzard just because it's Blizzard. Ok so you've been waiting for this game for a decade. Doesn't make it worth paying more than many other PC titles for it, especially when it's only 1/3 the game, 1/3 the story, and 1/3 the total experience. Oh sure you get the multiplayer but that's not the full game now is it.

Fortunately no, you get all the races in multiplayer regardless of version. Because let's be honest, even the most dedicated of Blizzard fans would've risen up in a rage had they not included that.

So... uh....
What a great surprise no!? We have a difference of opinion! How utterly unexpected and earth-shattering!

Okay, joking aside. So you value stuff like that. I don't. It therefore shouldn't be too much of a surprise that our purchasing decision will be different then.

As the prominent man tells us: 'It's your money.' If you looked at some of my purchases over the past few months, you'd likely tell me the same thing.

So difference of personality leading to difference of opinion. I doubt there's any more deep or meaningful to be gained here.

Holy crap!! a $60 price point for 1/2 a game?
At the risk of sounding like a fanboy. That's just not true.

You don't know how many hours of gameplay the single player will have. So why would describe it as half a game, or 1/3rd of a game? Just because it follows the storyline of one faction? That just *reeks* of complaining for complaining's sake. Lets hold off of comments like that till we know for sure how much gameplay the single player will give us, aright?
Your right, you do sound like a fanboy. Why can't we exepect a full sequel? That just REEKS of some chashing in later with expansions/ DCL/ another full priced game. I get that there will be good content (we shall resever judgement for the full product) but there WILL only be one campaign ans this might end up just like Dawn of War 2 did with a big "Lack of veriety" sticker over the singleplayer because it's just a longer version of 1/2 of the last game.

Also £40, i get that they want to standadise pricing but whem most PC games fall into the £20-£30 bracket (even big budget games like BC2) this kinda feels the same as the activisionism in MW2. Cut it down selll it high.
I don't get people like you. Just because you don't get a campaign for every starcraft race it's not a full game? So, you'd be content with 3 campaigns that last 3 hours apiece then, but dear lord don't let them give a game with 30 hours worth of a single race. That'd be madness! If the game is long enough, then that's all that matters. Don't think of it as SC2, think of it as "The Terran Story: Wings of Liberty (now comes with the SC2 multiplayer included!)".

As you're saying yourself: "It MIGHT end up with a big lack of variety." While that's true, there's a might. Wait for the first reviews to come out, then decide if you want to play the terran campaign. All you're discussing at this point is whether or not you "have faith" in Blizzard to deliver a decent product. While that's a good discussion, it does not and cannot encompass complaints yet. If you don't want to play the terrans, then you'll have to wait 'till the next release. Complaining about that now is complaining about fog. You can, but there's nothing substantial there.

The price may be high, I'll concede that. But these people aren't in it to make your giblets feel tingly. They're in it for the money. I wish people would start accepting that. They'll price it at whatever they feel will net them the biggest income. If they'd earn more by selling it at 10$ to get a better permeation of the market then that's what they'd do. And pricing it at 10$ wouldn't be a favor to you, it'd be a conscious decision to get more money.

I don't feel that SC2 is overpriced at 60$. I don't feel that the CE is a ripoff at a 40$ mark-up. People have expressed interest and more than interest in both, this makes the pricing reasonable.

The only thing there is to really complain about is the pricing discrepancy between the different currencies...
