Poll: Starcraft 2 only features 3 playable races ?

Following Blizzard`s usual pattern of enhancing the universe of each of their games with every new installment do you think sc2 will only feature 3 playable races ?

I think that 3 weeks before release we will find out that 2 new races have been introduced, but hey that`s just me.

their plan for the Starcraft 2 thing is to release it over 2 years.


the first game will be the Terran Campaign with the full Multiplayer/Custom Map gameplay

Second game will be Zerg Campaign

Third Game will be Protoss Campaign

they might have more races but they better not! balance is a very subtle thing kinda reminds me of the game chess (easy to learn hard to master). i would go so far as to say Starcraft is the ONLY game with "PERFECT" balance between races which is an amazing achievement as seeing how different the races are. if they introduce more races it'll be really hard to keep their tradition.

so they probably will but i hope they won't (better be safe than sorry).

If you've been following Starcraft II you'd know about Blizzard releasing it in 3 installments. So no. They might introduce a fourth one in an expansion (like they did with Age of Mythology), but we all know what THAT did to AoM's balance, and Starcraft has prided itself on being the epitome of balance. It'll be hard enough keeping balance with the new units they're introducing.

I think a lot of people thought Warcraft 3's balance was a bit unstable due to having 4 races.

Frankly, the races that Starcraft already has are unique enough. I can't see any reason for it that's good enough to justify risking the game's balance.

being a relative newcomer to the star-craft trilogy, i cant say that i can truely respect the games balance and depth to the level of a SC vet, yet even i can establish that SC charm emenates from its complementation of the other races streangths and weaknesses. Not only would this alienate star craft 2 from its fans and its predessesor to a level slightly below plastic surgery and changing its adress it would ruin what essentialy makes the game so popular. so i say: for the love of god dont add a forth race

The Xel'naga are most likely part of the campaign, but I doubt they're a fully developed playeble race.

No, it's Blizzard releasing 3 games because putting it all on one game would either make the whole game prohibitively expensive (because you're getting a campaign TRIPLE the size of the others) for those who just want to do multiplayer, or they'd have to reduce the size of the campaign which would lead to a reduced-quality final product.


Oh, not to mention that it would put production time ahead several years when they could release a perfectly functional multiplayer game much, much earlier.

this is just me being cynical, but fire is extremely warm and when i lick it my tounge hurts.

blizzard wants your money, they make quality products for it but they WILL have it. all of it if you let them.

and yeah, the whatsitcalled will likely be like the demons or naga were in warcraft 3 (though i really hope they arent there, that would totally ruin what its got going right now.)

blizzard wants your money

Wanting money and wanting to satisfy your customers with the best game you could offer them in the Starcraft Universe, despite what naysayers will continue to say, are not mutually exclusive things. Wake up and smell the zerg-guts, they're a business. They want to make money.

Exactly why does that tell you that they're not going to give you something you paid for?

In my eyes Blizzard has proven time and again that they can produce quality games something definetly worth giving them money for. I'll be all too happy to pay for three separate games to get three separate games-worth of RTS campaign excitement.

But hey, maybe that's just the logical centre of my brain talking.
