I wana know which is your favourite and why.

Go.

Yes, the poll is deliberately cryptic. No I'm not changing it.

i liked the original stuff the most but im partial to Atlantis but didn't like the one on the ship it felt like it departed from everything i thought made stargate good

7th Chevron was the normal old SG1 right? before they got into Atlantis on 8 and the spaceship on 9

8th chevron, cause apparently the 9th chevron causes the writers of Stargate to think "Hey, Battlestar Galactica was popular! We totally need to steal its atmosphere, terrorism commentary, unexplainable mythical events, and the fact that everyone in space is a dick."

Honestly, I didn't mind Universe when it started out, but now the similarities to Battlestar are getting a little annoying and predictable. Unlike Ronald D. Moore, the writers really can't make decent character development either usually. I still watch it though, just cause Dr. Rush is pure awesome, and in my mind, one of the few pragmatic people on the ship. Colonel Young? Almost completely incompetent. Lieutnant Scott? Same thing, and both these characters have fairly irrelevant pregnancy sub-plots too.

Well, I'm no expert in Stargate. I remember seeing the film and the only series I have actually watched in it's entirety is Universe, have only seen odd episodes of SG1 and Atlantis.

Edited to calm the OP's nerves :p

So, I can only really comment on Universe. I know it gets a lot of flack from certain quarters but I personally enjoy it. Not entirely sure about Atlantis but I liked what I did see of SG-1 as well.

Dude. No. Whats the point in a cryptic poll if you announce it in the first post. At least wait till its off the page >.<

See Im with you on 7th. But I didnt really like Atlantis. First 2 were ok, Only got halfway through season 3 then stopped watching. But I really like the new one. I feel its more back to what SG one was originally about. Oh shit, we got this new thing, it does crazy shit, someone found out we know about it, and now we are in BIG trouble. It just feels more tense, more on the edge. Which is how it should feel imo.

I'm guessing your referring to the number chevrons in each series. SG1 used the first 7 chevrons of the gates, whereas in Atlantic they used the first 8 while in Universe 9 chevrons were used. Hence the distance travelled increased with each series. Correct me if I'm totally wrong. ;)

Gah what is with you people >.<

heh, it took me a while to figure out the chevrons bit :D - I loved SG1 for the first 5/6 seasons 'cos it mixed the silly, the intelligent and a lot of other stuff as well - it just got ridiculous after they beat the Goa'uld.

Atlantis wasnt too bad - it had some pretty nifty techie stuff, but it just didnt grab me

I have a love/hate relationship with universe though - the dark gritty bits are very good, but sometimes it just gets on my nerves....

SG1 for me. I really like Atlantis (despite being a bit too fast at times) and Universe (despite being a bit too slow at times), but I think SG1 struck the best balance overall. Ive pretty much given up hope of anymore movies due to MGMS financial turmoil, coupled with the auctioning of the sets but it was a great run.

If the chevrons are indicative of SG1, Atlantis, and Universe, I chose 9 (assuming its SG Universe).

I have no idea why you'd intentionally be vague. I have to assume you think you are being clever, and that only other clever people will get what you mean. People that fail to understand your "code", for you, will have proved their inferiority and their answer doesn't matter anyway (aside from getting off on lesser people milling about, confused, supporting your superiority complex).
More to do with nerdness rather than superiority :p Gota be honest. Besides. Even passing stargate fans should get it :p

OK, in order to help keep the "crypticness" of this affair going, I've edited my post....now all the OP needs to do is remove the comment from their post. :)

Anyway, as for Universe, I guess I just like the sense of the unknown that is prevalent throughout...you can't get much further away than the arse-end of the universe. It's just a pity most of the planets they've visited so far are generally devoid of not just life but any distinguishing features (with some exceptions of course).

People often compare it to BSG (okay, not hard to see, given SGUs super-subdued lighting) but the first thing that actually came to mind was Voyager. Yep, as in Star Trek Voyager. Only with no annoying perpertually alien characters and a group on the ship that were genuinely at each others throats, one thing that was promised of Voyager, especially when those Lucian (sp?) Alliance types turned up.
