The thing I love most of all about it is I dont have yet another box, cd and manual to store somewhere..
Believe it or not those thing add up to huge piles over the years...

As far as I'm concerned, Steam is only good for Valve games. You know they won't screw those up, but there are way too many problems with non-Valve games. I'm very impressed with the fact that if you have a Source-SDK game purchased from them, you can play a large number of entirely free games, so simply on account of that they're worth using, but I'd leave it at that.

Personally I am not a fan of steam at all. I don't buy any games from them anymore after the shit they pulled on me.
what shit they pulled on you?

ot: i love it, the steam deals have greatly improved my gaming collection
They yanked my account and won't let me play the games I bought years ago. It was very random after a long period of not using my account now I magically can't. No real reason was given, they wanted my credit card # I used (years ago) to buy it online or a receipt, both of which I just do not have anymore. I got screwed on a technicality so I basically say fuck them, i've taken my money elsewhere.

I think Steam is terrible. I am really annoyed that I have to have it to play Valve games, otherwise I would have never been near it. All it does is slow down my PC and has no other use

This is an opinion, by the way, so don't attack me for it

I have no problems with it except for the fact that they rip you off unless theres a sale on.

I mean 50 euro for a digital download with no cd, box or manual?

Also in regards to the patching, you can turn off automatic patching if you want to stay on a version below the current and when steam doesn't have the latest patch the ones you download from the developers site work as well.
This, it often feels like I can get the game cheaper if I can be arsed to go to the store and buy it :p

Other than that I haven't found a problem worth mentioning yet.
Find me a digital distribution site that that doesn't sell games for 49.99????

They all do, sure I dont agree with it, but what can you do when THEY ALL do it.

It's alright. They just need to make a point of getting DLC placed on Steam and most importantly they need to make it possible to have your library span more than one hard drive.

It's pretty incredible. But I'd being lying if I said it was perfect. It's broken my computer a total of twice as so far.

I'm a big fan of Steam - it has some amazing sales every now and then, and even though if your HD crashes it could lead to a LONG recovery time when you have to re-download everything - but that's why I keep a copy of my steamapps folder on my external HD :).

About a year ago I used to have a lot of logging in problems with steam (page not loading mostly) but now its working perfectly.

Steam is the best thing since running water.

And who are those people who didn't put awesome or decent? They will be killed.

You know, being killed by a Yellow Cell Phone was not what I expected, but hey, you live with the cards dealt.

I like the chat system and how you can download your games any time you want from their server. I can put up with Steam's quirky behavior for that.

While I have ownership issues with the DRM, and concerns about what happens when it someday shuts down, it's done me no wrong so far.

steam sucks.

1. never works when i want it to.
2. doesnt connect to the internet (yes, i've turned off my firewalls).
3. i can't play empire: total war or mafia 2 without steam (even though i have the fucking CDs).
4. i can't play games in offline mode.

i hate steam.

Steam is an excellent service, although it's quirks and glitches make me pull it down to "Decent".

It's awesome for the ease of gaming and stuff, but SUCKS for the amount of money it makes me spend in its sales >.>

Voted awesome, 'cause it is. :D

Although my internet is shite, so it takes a millennium to download anything bigger than 200 MB, but I won't blame that on Steam. I do blame my ISP. 50 f**cking dollars a month for 30 kbps speed?! In Lebanon, that's considered to be AVERAGE.
