40 games, and I love it:

- Updates are great
- Downloading is always quick and easy
- Great pre-order deals (BioShock 2 for £25, and BioShock 1 for free)
- Mostly cheaper than retail
- Files all your games and tracks your stats
- News feeds for all your games

Retail stores had their chance, and they spent it down-sizing shelf space and ignoring us.

You mentioned a pound mark. England usually gets the cheapest games, rest of EU has to pay a ton more for new games. 30% more on average basis.

Considering I have 124 games (but some of those are probably demos) I think my view on it is fairly obvious.

...not counting expansions and such, I have 7 games on Steam, and I like the service well enough, though I still prefer getting a hard copy of my games that I can install and play without any sort of internet connection.

My friend let me borrow his Steam account so I can play The Orange Box. That's about it really.

I've 114, but some of those are multi-episode games and/or expansions.

I got a lot of indie games over the Christmas sales. I really enjoy Steam I think it's a great service, but there's always going to be a little niggle in the back of my mind about how I don't really OWN any of those games and that if I'm a naughty boy Steam can take my access to them away. Honestly I'm not too worried as I don't go round causing havoc just pay and play, but I'd rather there was no DRM and I could have external install files as a backup just in case like I do with my games from GOG.com, which is one reason while I'll likely buy the Witcher 2 from GOG rather than Steam.

I have 63 games, although some of them are things like Lost Coast, TF2 Beta, and the like. I like steam and their sales, I only recently switched to an unmetered broadband account so I had been avoiding it. If there is a game on both GOG and Steam I'll buy off of GOG in a flash. I recently discovered Desura as well which is like the Steam of mods, don't know if it is available outside of Australia though.

Although a lot of the games are listed as free or mods, my steam account says I own 100 games. I love STEAM.

I have 149 games and I love Steam.

My only problem is that my Steam disk is a 256Gb SSD, so I only ever have about 30 actually installed. I love that it's easy to move my library when I upgrade, the sales, old game availability and the friends system. As soon as 512Gb SSDs becone less insanely priced I'll migrate and get a bunch more down.

To those complaining that downloads stop when you start another game, alt-tab away from that game once it's started, pause the download (I know its already paused, it apparently doesn't), then restart the download. Then alt-tab back to your game. I'm guessing they do it so that yout connection isn't slugged if you're playing online, but they should be able to do something cleverer than just stopping every time.

It's less than ten. More than 4. Can't be bothered to look ight now honestly. I don't care for Steam personally but to each their own.

I own 100 games on steam...I just had to tally them up.

I use it for convenience and the friends system.

I have 3 games (plus 2 demos) on steam, and everything positive that i can say about it, i can say about Impulse (where i have 10 games, excluding several expansions).
Excellent (and sometimes cheaper) digital distribution, great occasional bargains, good selection of games, and effective promotion for smaller/indie games(once again, cheaper).

But unlike Impulse, Steam tends to do a lot of thinking on its own (and restricts my ability to tell it to think less, or at least do only what i specifically tell it to do), especially when it comes to downloading stuff. If you don't untick the right box, then it will update all the games for you (during which time, you can't play the game), and if you want to kill some time playing games on steam while you wait for a game/demo to download, you'll have to trick it a bit, otherwise it will pause the download as soon as you start up a game (without telling you).

I consider these minor annoyances that i can work around (though, i shouldn't have to), but my brother has had one too many bad experiences due to stuff like this, and considers Steam the ultimate force of evil in the world. I have yet to have enough bad enough experiences myself, to agree, but i do understand why he (and many others) hates Steam.

Some people talk about how steam doesn't convert the dollars to something more local. Well, i'm currently living in Kenya, and Impulse converts all it's prices into Kenyan Shillings while i'm here (And Kronor when i'm in Sweden, Canadian dollars when i'm in Canada, etc. Just a bit Surprised to see conversion to such an inconsequential currency, when steam can't even convert it's prices into Euros)

I have the Crysis 2 demo, CoD: MW2 and CoD: BlOps on Steam. I also tried the STCC demo along with the Arma2 demo, but didn't like 'em too much.

I'm neutral towards Steam I guess. I got it, but it's seldom used. Maybe I'm just using it wrong?

I have 2 games on it and they came in a pack. It isn't that i'm opposed to steam, I'm just not that into PC gaming.

A good amount, I laugh at people who call it bad when I'm getting games for half the price or less on sales.

True that, hail to paying less than 10 euros for game that I still see for 30+ in retail stores.
