steampunk, definitely. Mostly for the aesthetic really, I mean you never see cyborgs wearing top hats, and if you can just have a prosthetic leg, why get a cane?

Also, it hasn't been used as much as cyberpunk, or at least it doesn't feel like it has. Just wait until Bethesda does a Steampunk game, then everybody will jump on the bandwagon (haven't you noticed the rise in post-apocalyptic stuff since Fallout 3?)
I disagree, steampunk seems to be getting a much better run lately. Games series like bioshock are very clearly defined within the genre (just a top of the head AAA example), wheras I can't think of any serious cyberpunk game since dues ex (even Dystopia was a few years ago now).

If the OP means which would I rather live in, I'd say cyberpunk, it seems to be easier to get shit done (though is arguably less cool).

Pretty sure Atomic Robo Tesla would wear one given the chance.

Keep in mind that WoW is borderline steampunk, especially with the engineering skill.

Cyberpunk, I don't want to live in the past - not even an imaginary one.

I always think of Cyberpunk as a lot more dystopian, so Steampunk.
Me too.

When I think of steampunk, I think of the industrial revolution and bold curiosity. When I think of cyberpunk, I think of a world gone haywire with technology like in Akira or Ghost in the Shell.

Steampunk just feels a lot more cozy and homey to me.

Victorian-styled clothing, visible machine parts, MECHS, and pretty much everything else in Steampunk is what makes it so great. =D

Cyber for me thanks. Ever since i saw Mutant Chronicals (i think) i haven't been able to stand steampunk.

It was the worst movie ever.

Steampunk has a great aesthetic, but cyberpunk has more potential for mutilation and mutation . . . I guess cyberpunk.

ARGH!
Steampunk, I guess.

I've been in love with it's aesthetics for years now, and although I find the moral questions and the setting (dystopian future where companies rule the planet) of cyberpunk more engaging, I would prefer to be able to live in a developed, steampunk, world.

Steampunk, especially if I can get in on some of that sweet, sweet, Trotmobile action. Plus I like the look better, gears, cogs, brass, and of course steam. Cyberpunk gets too vibrant and L.E.D.'y for me. Also I'm not into the whole hacker scene. Also it's too far future flung, Steampunk can be anywhere from Lincoln to the twenties.

A refreshing and exciting adventure, Steambot Chronicles!
