ok, this one is simple. Do you like Seagal's movies or not?
I was saying he is my favourite actor, but was told this was silly. So, after the discussion we decided the best solution was an escapist poll.

Only good or bad, no inbetween.

They are all awful, they are the same plot.

"Oh he's a bad guy"
cut to violence
"Ah, lunch"
cut to violence
"Oh, thats the phone"
cut to violence

etc.

I think Seagal is actually pretty awesome! I absolutely loved Under Siege and i love the way he can kill you and he barely has to move, just one quick move of his hand. And your dead!

Why argue with success?
Ok, so he plays the same character, with a similar plot, but the action scenes are great, his acting is good, i like his voice, and i think all his movies are completely awesome.

He can't act, his films are essentially the same plot, just in a different setting but if you turn your brain off, he can be pretty entertaining.
Just don't watch and hope for sophisticated cinema...

His movies are great in a bad way. The same way Van Damme, Arnie and Stallone are terrible and still great.

well there's a point where his movies become bad, it's around under siege time after that they started to suffer from what is known as teh suck

tho exit wounds was kinda ok, mostly cause it was filmed in toronto and hamilton (the bike chase is king and/or main street in hamilton) but takes place in detroit, you can even see the tim hortons on king and james street in hamilton

still makes me giggle when i think about it

How dare you compare him to Arnie. Arnie is in a totally different league of awesomeness.

I love both Under Siege movies and Hard to Kill, the latter is a top revenge flick. But all of his other stuff and especially his recent 'work' isn't very good. He's a fairly poor actor, but he has enough screen presence in his better movies to make them watchable and to cheer him on when he's kicking arse.

Given the intellectually demanding project I am engaged in during the day I tend to avoid any film which makes demands on my brain.

In the evening I just want to relax and escape.

Steven Seagal does this. Even a cameo by him improves a movie - remember Executive Decision?

I'll tell you what's funny. Go into a movie store (rental or sale, it doesn't really matter I guess) and ask for the Seagal movie where he plays the ex-government agent called back into service to stop the terrorists. You'll get a good ten minutes out of watching the people trying frantically to look up this movie only to realize it's almost every movie he has ever done.

I sorta like him in some movies Under siege and pistol whipped (i think) There was one where he killed a guy with a credit card(killer interest rate I guess haha/attempt at humor)
I like his movies for what they are mindless action romps to rent for 1$ at walmart.

I can't complain about lack of plot variety, but when I sit down to watch one of his movies I'm not expecting a dramatic tearjerker.

No, I am expecting violence and I get limb breaking, face smashing, hell raising, violence.

I remember noticing that. The thing is, I've been to both Detroit and Toronto (lived in Toronto for a bit) and when I saw it for the first time I was living in SE Asia. For the longest time I thought I was just really, really confused.

But yeah, Seagal is terrible. Even for good action there's so many better options out there.
