Replace zombies with MORE ZOMBIES.

I LIKE zombies. I like to kill zombies. I have no problem with them and I like them a lot.

People. More specifically, people with good AI in an apocalypse setting. I'd love for it to be a first generation apocalypse, where the majority of the population saw the world end and you can find things that tell you that your enemies used to be normal people.
Wouldn't that just be Metro 2033 with smarter bad guys?
Kinda, but not a generation later where a good amount of people were born after the world ended. I'm talking End-of-Ze-World+1, shit just finished hitting the fan, and you witness the fall of the first world society as it makes way for post-apocalyptia. Dead enemies have family photos in their pockets, NPC's whine about missing their cell phones, people with any form of electricity are kings. Whatever the cause, I'd like a game where you witness the regression of society, and you can either fight to preserve civilization or spray what bullets you have into the crowds.
Very interesting idea. I'd buy it.

Dang. I could really get behind a modern action-RPG centered around dinosaurs. Either a "lost in the jungle" story, or a darker take on a Dinotopia type world. Or all sorts of other things I havent thought of yet, Im sure.

Demons. Due to their lack of a clear definition, they never get boring.
This is the first idea I've come across that really seems cool.

Demon apocalypse would be awesome, because you could have the zombie type monsters, all the way to giant dragon-like super-giant badasses, and still have some really powerful intelligent demons that actually think up tactical plans. And it would all fit the theme!

There were a couple of Shannara books that did a demon apocalypse in them, and they were freaking awesome!

Stalker: Shadow of Chernobyl?

Actually, from what I understand of the Stalker plot, (which isn't terribly much) it's actually DURING the beginnings of the apocalypse. In fact, I'm not sure it ever tells you if the apocalypse ever covers the whole world eventually or not.

Though the AI isn't the best in the game, they still kick your ass... A LOT.

I'm waiting for the free roam RPG zombie game where I can create a character and play as him in the apocalypse. I love zombie games though, and if I get insulted because I like a cliche, so be it, its just so satisfying blasting a zombies head off,

Or playing as a zombie and eating humans.

Idea make a game from the demon's side how they are hunted by humans for being evil. When they're only trying to live their lives as best they can.

Either that or CRAB BATTLE!!!

Nazis have been done before too. Quite a lot actually.

As for me... I would pick robots, they seem like they would be a challenge. Plus robots are awesome.

Other: leave the zombies alone. Otherwise, you get crap like inFamous: Festival of Blood that thinks its clever using vampires instead, except not really because Twilight alone was enough to make people sick of vampires, and at least zombies are far cooler than what comes to mind when thinking of vampires these days.

I don't even think zombies have been overdone. I mean there are way more non-zombie games than zombie games. Even if you make it excluded to only M-rated titles. It is really only a handful of franchises. Tolkien high fantasy with elves/Sci-fi with futuristic soldiers (Space marines) are actually more overdone than zombies.

I voted other because I want to replace current zombies with good zombies. Dead Island got close but the game was just not done when it shipped. It needed another 6-12 monthes in development to polish everything, and I mean EVERYTHING.

I want a COD style FPS, Boarderlands style multiplayer, Rage's graphics (360 version), L4D's AI, in a Fallout/ Elder Scrolls like open world of our entire planet. It must have RPG elements, current/ accurate weapon selection, the ability to build things (weapons, bases, ect.), it must have a substantial variety of side quests, and for the love of the gaming gods put in a main story that is long, well though out, and makes me give a damn.

I vote cyborgs.
It's all the guiltless fun of shooting robots, while still retaining the enjoyable and satisfying blood splattering of shooting a squishy mortal!

Here me out on this, Robotic Mutated Insect Zombies in roving gangs throughout the cosmos. And now one particular band finds it's way to earth. And who do we call upon in our time of need to defend us from these foes? GARY MOTHERFUCKING OAK! At first he mistakes them for a new pokemon and tries to catch one. He succeeds but his pokedex didn't recognize it. He decides to take it to his uncle. Once it's out of its ball it attacks though, Killing his uncle. Gary then decides to go on a quest to avenge his uncle, and regrettably teams up with his rival ash and his crew. Meanwhile Giovanni has heard wind of the attack and wants these new creatures under his control. Who does he send to find them? Why Jessie and James of course. They find one, but it proves to be able to best them. Right when they're about to die, who else shows up but ash, Gary and friends. Afterwards they decide to team up making quite a large party of playable characters for you to choose from throughout the game. Then you can travel to different area's where the RMIZ's (anagram of title, I rather not keep spelling it out)have seized control and the gang leader (who you find out later is the one Gary caught) has left a higher up in the gang to watch over things. Each place can be like a checkpoint when getting to the next town for the next objective. When not in the towns it would basically be a sandbox game where you could do what you want and perform various side quests. Hell, even capture pokemon. Eventually It takes you to The final boss fight. Of course Gary is there alone, everyone else is off battling the rest of the gang giving him time to take him down. Believe it or not now the gangleader has somehow captured himself a pokemon, and not just any pokemon, but a freaking dragonite. So you have to have a pokemon battle with his dragonite. Then once its defeated you need to actually battle him using either your pokemon or using yourself. and depending on which route you take will depend on how it ends. maybe using your fists caused the battle to take too long and a friend dies in battle, or using your pokemon makes him pull out a gun a nd shoot it as it unleashes its attack to kill him. Of course choosing the last option seems terrible, but that's why you keep around the lone revive you get throughout the game just for this occasion

Mind=Blown

There had been no apocalypse in that game. Only Chernobyl was in the shitter, the outside was still normal, hence the presence of the Russian Military and a faction who want the Zone's secrets to be available to the wider world.

Yeah, but I gathered that the Zone was expanding. Was that only in the first game?
