I like multiplayer and single player. But I like them served separately. It strikes me that new franchises should focus on one or the other, and not split their resources between the two. That way, there is no need to compromise one experience for the other.

I mean, you wouldn't want your pees touching your creamed corn, would you?

Singleplayer, without question. The best games I own have no multiplayer at all.

I really like when a game can have many game types and keep them all in balance. I think that if a game is going to try to have multiple game types that they really need to try to keep the game types on the same par as far as quality.

It depends on the game - take Morrowind: Incredibly strong and emergent single-player, so much so you wouldn't WANT a multi-player
