As a huge football fan (president, secretary and treasurer of the one-member South Australian Tennessee Titans Fan Club) I gotta say I REALLY don't see it going to the Olympics. It would be enjoyable (if one-sided) but it ain't gonna happen. Of course, if you have evidence to the contrary you're welcome to source me.

I tipped Seattle & New England. My first aim (getting rid of the *#&@! Colts) was achieved, now I'm gonna see off Peyton if I can.
heres and article I found on it,
http://msn.foxsports.com/nfl/story/american-football-provisional-recognition-international-olympic-committee-possible-medal-sport-2024-121013
enjoy
Baseball has had recognition for decades, still didn't get vote in for 2016.
just want to point out until the last one baseball was an Olympic sport it was stoped because silver and gold were always the US or Japan.

Ugh...I'm so horrible at picking these even though I absolutely love football but I'll give it a go anyway:

Seahawks V. 49ers
As much as I like Seattle, I think they're relying almost solely on their defense at this point. Rusty has no real "Elite" WR to play with (with Percy "Two Play Max Limit" Harvin being the closest thing). A great RB and Defense allows them to stay in it but a high scoring offense that can handle "the 12th man" is going to kill them. Enter the 49ers...just like Seattle except I would argue equal or better in just about every way. Lynch is the only one I would call clearly better for Seattle versus the 9ers side (Ol'man Gore, who's still good, just not elite).

Patriots V. Broncos
This could be a freaking coin flip. Broncos have a TON of weapons and an OK defense (though that just took a hit) while the Patriots have a good amount of weapons and an OK defense. Patriots have already taken down the Broncos once in epic fashion but I just can't see it happening again...

As to the Olympics, I think that's a terrible idea. Granted, I think just about any "team" sport shouldn't be in the Olympics either so maybe that's just me...
gotta disagree on the 49ers having better anything but receivers. their quarterback cant take hits(see his last game he truly suffered after each hit) and by god the Seahawk defense is so much better then the 49ers that's its painful. Now id say this is more of a toss up then the Bronco/Pat game as theres no way the broncs lose at home.

also for those who arnt from the US what do you think about the idea of football being brought to the Olympics?
Hard to say, honestly. Popularity of the sport is so abysmal outside the US that what few professional leagues exist in other countries have a minuscule talent pool to draw from. Canada would be the only nation that would really have a chance, though there would be some debate about which rule set to use. I know that Japan had a surge of interest in american football for a long time after a manga series about it took off there, but I don't know if that impacted the size of their professional league.

so basically, making it an olympic sport would just give America a free gold medal.

Oh, and Seattle all the way! I've wanted to see them in the superbowl for ages.

I'm gonna go with Seattle vs New England.

I feel like Seattle is just riding a lot of momentum right now, and I don't think either team has a "great" offense. So since Seattle has a better Defense, and is at home, I'm gonna go with them

As for the AFC. Well Tom Brady has owned Peyton Manning, and I'm a UM guy, so why New England

you remind me of the buccaneers fan club(which is fairly large..) in england, which is funny since the bucs have been terrible ever since they won the superbowl.

OP:
meh, don't care who wins, just make sure the ads are funny and show some good trailers.

I don't follow American football but I will say New England and someone else. I can predict the 2014 AFL grand final though, Fremantle and Sydney (Freo to win).

As for American Football in the Olympics, very bad idea. The only football that belongs at the Olympics is soccer.

it would be 6 man football not 11 man as you see on tv.(mostly collages play it and its a lot harder.)

...but really, I just wanna see my very racist family get upset over a *gasp* "negro" accomplishing something.
Doesn't that describe most major sports? There's even black people doing well in hockey now.

I've known people like that before. They'll drop racist epithets while listening to rap music. It'd be funny if it wasn't so depressing.

A bit more on topic: I'm amused and surprised by how many people are rooting for Seattle.

I want SF to go...but I think that Seattle's the better team. Man, and I live in the Bay Area...better keep that opinion to myself :x

Also, SCREW NEW ENGLAND TO THE GROUND. Let's see Peyton's ancient butt run circles around whichever sophomore QB makes it to the Super Bowl.

I saw the choices and thought "Den? Like Denver?". I live in Colorado, so I just validated many nerd stereotypes about myself there. Explains the Bronco decorations in some nearby people's lawn.
I want either Denver or Seattle to win. Denver as it is my home state, and Seattle because I learned a few posts up that them winning would piss of a group of racists.

I predict there will be a football game.

I predict that I won't watch it.

Actually, it's kinda fun to see that 50% of the escapist voters have basically said they don't watch that crap. Yay, I'm among friends here...

The Superbowl was cancelled this year due to the poor performance of the Giants and Jets.
If New York doesn't make it to the finals of any sporting league, the finals are cancelled for that year, and America collectively sits around feeling sad.

Ninja'd.

I am gratified to see so many responses of "I don't watch." I realize most of them are probably from outside the US, but it still makes me happy. I live in 'Murica and football is an obsession in my region. Really annoys me when total strangers assume I care what a bunch of meatheads do on a grass rectangle thousands of miles away.

I'm from north of Seattle and I've been hearing about their season CONSTANTLY in all my social media. The only aspect of it that I do like is that CenturyLink Field is officially the loudest outdoor sports arena in the world, with the fans causing a local seismometer to register a 2 on the Richter Scale during a game recently. That's pretty sweet. I am, when it comes to sports, a bit of a contrarian, so I'm hoping that Seattle loses to the 49ers this weekend just so I can stop hearing about the 'Hawks. Sheesh.

Gotta ask how a South Australian becomes a Titans fan?
I've been a fan ever since they came to my state in the 90s, go watch them every year now even though we kinda suck recently. LP field is still a lively place and fun to watch even when we loose 800 games.

I don't think that's the real reason. Outside of those countries baseball just isn't really popular. If that was the case Basketball would have been taken out many years ago and sort of goes against why American football should be added.

How does an Australian become a fan of any team outside of Australia? :p (rhetorical question). Being a fellow South Australian I chose teams that I was interested in when I was younger.

In NFl I support the Patriots (I'll admit it was kind of a bandwagon decision plus I was drafted to them in one of the Madden games and I liked the team lol), in the NBA I support Oklahoma City because I was kind of late to getting into it and after watching them push the Lakers in their second season I really liked what I saw in the team and learning more about the people behind the scenes helped my decision. In soccer I support Chelsea because I would watch them with my mate and Drogba was amazing to watch.

I've realised most of the teams I like are blue, so maybe I'm attracted to blue teams :p

OT: I'm going to pick NE to beat DEN just because they are my team and I want to see Wes Welker realise it was a mistake to leave :p And in the other game I'm picking SEA though I don't really follow other teams close enough to know who should win.
