just read Superman Red Son
Batman lures Superman to a field where lamps replicate Krypton,s red sun causing Superman to lose his powers Batman then nearly beats Superman but WonderWoman disables the lamps causing Superman to regain his powers and beat Batman.
If WonderWoman had not intervened Superman would have lost
Batmen obviously.

Blacksad would kick their butts.

But, alright... I think Superman would most likely win, but Batman would still be the spiritual victor, since he's at least marginally less eye-glasingly boring.

The best Superman stories I've ever read often outshine some of the best Batman stuff I've read. It just takes a writer who really gets the character to get the story there, and they're usually interesting because they address the actual character; his views, beliefs, and how he sees his role in the world.
I agree with this, while on average I find Batman stories more enjoyable, but when I think of the best Batman story it's like the Dark Knight Returns or the Long Halloween, but when I think of the best Superman stories there's All Star Superman, Man of All Seasons, Whatever Happened to the Man of Tommorrow, Red Son, Secret Identiy, Kingdom Come (admitteldly an ensemble piece but he's the main character) and more.

In my old age I've come to appreciate Superman and what he stands for. So...Superman.

'All that power makes him boring.' Ok, then what's Goku's excuse?

And if Batman didn't have the lamps Superman would have won... So they both needed help. Although without either of them getting help who do you think would have won. That'd be like me slipping Mike Tyson a roofie punching him in the face and insisting I'm a better fighter than Mike Tyson.
That can be highly arguable. Lets say Superman didn't have his powers. Who would win? Batman because of his martial arts training, his constant physical training because he honed himself to be in top physical and mental form.

Superman would only win if he had his superhuman strength, speed, and agility.

Without his powers, Superman doesn't stand a chance.

Batman! He fights crime without super powers. Plus he gets to fight the joker.

Neither. They're both good in their own rights. I'm a Bat Family fan, but Superman is a wonderful character. The Marvel equivalent of Superman is Captain America. Why do I say this? Well their characters are very much the same. They represent their own origin and are willing to defend it when necessary, put they are more aiming to bring justice. They are the definition of good.

Batman on the other hand is the "normal" guy who can help protect his city. He is intelligent, he is agile, he is strong. Where as Superman is more of a goody twoshoes, Batman is someone who brings Justice no matter the cost. For a Marvel perspective, I can't really say who Batman's counter part is, it's definitely a split. I would say he has the personal life combination of Spider-man and Iron Man [Tragic backstory, fights because of it, millionaire.] But the crime fighting aspect is more Daredevil.

But those are my opinions, both are good, they just represent something different.

Batman all the way! He's the pinacle of human fortitude, a symbol of what man can be with discipline and determination (and lots of money and dead parents). Superman's basically an indestructible (more or less) otherworldly character; his powers are by birth, not by effort. Plus he always seemed like a goody-two-shoes and his costume is a bit lame!

Superman doesn't have nearly as many obnoxious fans onvinced that their character is god.

Also, Superman wasn't in the single most overrated superhero movie ever made.

Alright. When it comes to fighting I am quite sure that Superman would punch a hole through Batman's face and that would be the end of it. Now it pains me to say that because I think as a whole Batman is a far better character than Superman. More interesting. His story lines are better, but, what do you guys think?

Superman for aforementioned face-hole punching
Wrong and wrong.

Batman has beaten Superman in the comics twice.

Batman always keeps a small stash of Kryptonite just in case Superman goes bad, and Batman always sees Superman's attacks coming because Superman is a meathead and Batman is a genius.

Superman is just blah......
All I can really say, his villains(and alotta robots), kryptonite and magic his only weakness, working at a newspaper, I mean how does he himself not get fucking bored with his life.

Superboy however...

Batman wins though.

Batman because he's the man with intellect. Brains will always triumph over brawn and Batman's lack of super powers cause him to be creative and always in top shape for any encounters with super beings.

To everyone saying Superman is boring, overpowered, has no peronality...

How many of you have actually sat down and read a Superman story?

Not a Batman story where Superman appears so he can get shown up by Batman, to show everyone how awesome and unbeatable Batman is.

Not a story where Batman and Superman ostensibly share billing, but Superman gets downplayed because the writer has a hardon for Batman.

An actual Superman story.

Superman is a much deeper character than people give him credit for, but Batman is...well, Batman.

Sometimes it depends on the writer but Batsy makes me squeal like a girl more often than Supey. I just enjoy the character more than Superman, but Big Blue has his moments.
