Sure, if I can cook him beforehand. It would be a very special scenario and I wouldn't do it with lust of course but if that's the only way to survive, go ahead.

Meh, I wouldn't know until I were in the situation and feeling the pain. All sorts of animals have the capacity to be cannibalistic, so that would help me reason with it mentally.

Let's just say I would probably rather starve to death than do something like that. Survival to me isn't always worth the things one might have to do. I'd probably just throw it up anyway, fuck that shit.

So we are talking about a human raider right?

I guess afterwards you could claim to be a humanitarian.

Admit it, some of you laughed.

Well I mean, other than the fact that I would need a fire to cook the meat, and that dehydration would be another, probably more severe, problem, sure.

Not like he'll care.

Well Creutzfeld-Jakob's disease, but at least risking that is better than dying of starvation then and there. So yes, I'd try the delicious long pork.

I don't even think I'd need to be starving to do it, I think in that situation I'd be pretty casual about it.

I'd try to cook the meat first if I could get a fire going (gotta kill that bacteria) but yes, I'd eat him. I mean, I'm starving and he's going to rot away anyway or be eaten by scavengers. It would seem pretty stupid to possibly condemn yourself to a slow, painful death for a societal taboo.

In an apocalypse situation, it would really come down to the question if survival is actually going to be worse than starving to death. One dead human won't sustain me long enough to matter.
If I had a decent chance of surviving to find food if I ate him, then yes. But likely scenario is that I'm going to die anyway and I'd rather not die a cannibal just to get a few days of life out of it. I'm not a fatalist but I also don't see an apocalyptic situation worth surviving in.
It is a big choice even in hypothetical terms and I'm not about to push aside years of personal morality just for a few bites. Hell the meat wouldn't keep long anyway. On a different note, if this person is in such good health there must be a food source or water source nearby. I'd rather die backtracking his/her trail than eat them. It makes no sense for a healthy muscular person to be out in the middle of nowhere with no food/water on them unless they had something stashed away somewhere or whatever.
Alter the scenario, two starving people (you and the raider) come across each other and the raider tries to kill you but ends up on the losing end. Both of you know there's no food or water for miles, so it wasn't a battle for resources or anything else but survival and the winner eats the loser... still would have to consider dying on my own terms anyway. In a hopeless situation, to me, a moral victory that ends in dying is better than throwing away my own values to die a day or two later.
I have to have some more assurance to live longer than a few days at best to consider cannibalism. I'm not dead-set against the idea, just that in an impossible situation where I'd die likely anyway its just not worth it to me.

Well if I've been starving for a week I highly doubt I'd be standing, much less managing to kill someone, I mean I've starved before lasted a whole 5 days eating nothing but oranges because it was all I had, on the 5th day I could barely move, I was hallucinating and I felt awful[footnote]I hadn't slept either, I was lost in a forest BTW.[/footnote], still managed to keep on my feet until I found the damned camp I was supposed to be at, once I found it and I tried to talk I proceeded to vomit something that looked like orange juice and then I passed out, I woke up again and barely able to move I managed to get home on bus[footnote]With my siblings and none of them gave me any food despite the fact that they had some, gotta love my family[/footnote], once I got home and finally ate something I passed out AGAIN only to wake up 3 days later on my bed, after that I would just randomly lose all my energy and feel extremely hungry, sometimes I even fell to the ground because I didn't have enough strength to stand[footnote]NOPE, my parents never thought of taking me to a doctor.[/footnote], this lasted for a month.

So yeah I'm not killing anyone if I've starved for a week, anyway assuming this scenario was plausible and how disgusting I find the idea of eating people[footnote]I almost vomited when I found out that certain characters in TWD game were cannibals.[/footnote] and taking into account that unlike most of you I actually know how desperate I'd get if I was that hungry I can pretty safely say that I would not eat human flesh even if my life depended on it.

According to my personal interpretation, Human meat has nearly 100% of nutrients for human dietary needs.

It would be a waste of perfect high grade 50~200lb meat.
No carbs though.

No. I dont believe I would eat the man. If he has no food or water on him though, that might mean there is a camp nearby or he had a stash. Id be off looking for that.

"Starving for a week" isn't starving. Try a month.

Anyway I don't think I'd do it. I'd try to find some berries or fish or something. There's gotta be something around.

1.Don't eat the brains
2.Don't eat the green wobbly bits...

Basically as long as you stick to the muscle, and cook it properly, you'll probably be fine.

Anyone have some salt?

I'd almost be looking forward to it. Fresh kill? Talk about clean meat. I'd almost burn it cooking for sure; don't want any disease, parasites, or residual chems.

Going from vegetarian to cannibal would be quite a leap though. o,O
Also this. I'm vegetarian cuz I don't think eating meat is fair. Poor whatever didn't ever do anything to harm me. That fucking raider just tried to shoot me! I'm going to eat his spleen!

Sure in a survival situation then every man/woman for themself however I don't think I could ever kill someone being very skinny and almost never having fought before.

You get your ass underground and use your generator solar and thermal power with grow lights to grow your food instead of eating nasty raiders.
Do you know how much underground area you would need to sustain a farm big enough to support you. Also how do you expect to get water, from taps?

Muscle doesn't sound good for eating though.
Then what the hell do you think you are eating when you eat regular meat? Useless parts of pig that grow just to be eaten by other animals?

You use vertical farming with LEDS, and most here use well water. I grew up on a Hopi farm. A farm that big is not needed at all. I am Hopi, we do not use the same methods. I am well aware of how to self sustain even in the harshest of environments, that is what we do. Hopi farmers view western farmers as extremely wasteful with little results to show for the resources used. There are still parts of our reservation where no technology is allowed and they still live as they have for thousands of years, if anyone were to survive an apocalypse it would be Hopi. LOL.

I like to think I'd do what I need to to survive, but the moral stress might make me warped.

Well, more warped than the guilt of a privileged, 30s-something, dumpy white man surviving the apocalypse.

And more warped than I am now.

...

cool raider skull! If I didn't bash it in, I'll wear it.

Ummm...

On my shoulder, I guess.

Or my crotch.

It'll be like a socketable item in Diablo 2, right? I just put it in my inventory slot, and BAM! Upgrade.

...

It's a miracle that that raider tripped in front of me and broke his own neck, really.
