I'm a gun person myself, because realistically guns are more effective than swords almost 100% of the time.
A sword has no ammo limit.
I knew someone would say this. Yes, guns have limited ammo, but they can hurt someone beyond 2 meters, so there.
Who says I dont have a reeeeeally long sword? Plus maybe you have horrible aim? Maybe Im really sneaky? Maybe I wouldnt have made the impending and snarky comment if you didnt say "almost 100% of the time".

Also, I am just being "that person", and have no intention of actually debating this.
That's what I thought, but I was started a debate just to be sure.

Well, if I was able to play a stealthy character, I would most certainly run around cutting people up.

"Let's see how you fire that gun... WITH NO HANDS!"

I chose Guns. Why? My friend Indiana Jones will demonstrate:
/thread good sir. Indiana Jones for the win!

I chose Gun as my dear friend Indy demonstrated, Guns beat Swords. So do Pens. (reference anyone?)

A sword has no ammo limit.
Swords continuously get duller the more you use them. So yes, they do have an ammo limit, it's just higher than guns.

OT: I prefer to go with melee when I can because it's more exciting, but there's also joy to be had with picking off enemies from a distance with a sniper rifle.
Well, I'll just hit it with a hammer. Good as new.
Sharpening a sword means getting rid of some metal. After a certain amount of time the sword will lose its functionality.
Swords can also rust over time, depending on where you fight and whether or not you remember to clean the blade before putting it in its holster.

Swords. I've always liked the more 'traditional' fantasy settings to modern settings such as those found in Call of Duty. Besides, swords are infinitely cooler-looking than guns.
Debatable.
Well of course it is, anything is. As a general rule though, in my opinion, game swords look cooler than game guns.

I think I like swords because I prefer less-realistic settings in the games I play, and guns are generally indicative of a real-world setting, or at least more indicative of that than swords are.

I'd hate to repeat anything, but really I think Han Solo said it best: "Hokey religions and ancient weapons are nothing for a good blaster at your side kid."

And I do believe one Ashley Williams put it best as well:

Gun beats sword.

After posting my little comment, I was anxious to see if you would get all serious on me, or if you would get it. So yeah, I was kinda hoping you would take what I said literally. No worries.

Although in a Sword VS. Gun the Gun will win 98% of the times, I chose swords!
Why? Because they're cool, they're physical, and they allow for duels that last(with guns it's all over too soon)

I was looking at my shelf of games, and couldn't help to think that like attracts like. I have way more fantasy games than modern games, for example. This got me thinking. If all games were equal, ie: COD had swords, or Oblivion had guns for example, would it make a difference to the weapons you'd use? Are there any scenarios that alternative weapons would make more enjoyable gameplay?

Note: I'm aware that Fallout is basically Oblivion with guns, but it's hard to think of a recent fantasy game off the top of my head that didn't include guns.

OT: I prefer swords over guns as I have always like the idea and aesthetics of swords over guns.

Anyone seen martial arts vs modern arts? Yeah, just give the martial artist a sword and that pretty much sums up why guns are my preference.

Other than that, I guess guns just interest me more. Swords are basically sharpened bits of metal you swing at people, when you remove all the fluff. Guns are tools that use gunpowder and moving parts to launch small metal slugs.
That's basically just the scene from Indiana Jones.

Guns. Only I'd like to add that muscles DO matter with even firearms, you must be strong enough to control the weapon under recoil so you can still fire quickly and accurately. Not to mention fit enough to move quickly from cover to cover and to resist any injuries.

I myself am an archery person, although realistically, I would use a gun due to the fact I'm still inexperienced with a bow and guns are well... Easier

I choose other due to me having played Gunz, it uses both guns and swords and it is awesome.
