Even today swords live on to some extent, knives are used very often simply because you'll never be remotely effective in close combat unless you have something sharp or you've got a lot of leverage behind your blugeoning

Guns. Very very few of you would actually know how to use a sword. It is not just a matter of pick it up and swing it like a bat.
Guns on the other hand can be used by anyone and even the finer points of guns can be learnt far easier and swifter than a sword.

True enough, but I am one of those people who actually knows how to use a sword *bows* I'm a proud fencer and currently top of my class. On the same subject, how many people here could actually use a gun? Or a bow or whatever else for that matter?

I really hate the Gunblade, to me it's complete blasphemy. A sword should never touch gunpowder unless it's cutting the barrel off of a gun. Thank god that thing isn't real.

Huge fan of modern bows myself. I should go down to the range more often to get some practice in, really...

That said, I do also love modern assault rifles.

Swords look cool and all, but are very impractical.
If you stick me in a medievil army, I'll definitely try to be an archer or a crossbowman.
I'm not suicidal.
Real melee combat is a fucking mess.

I've got the same problem with that as I do with the Gunblade. Also glad this one doesn't exist

Lets be honest, swords are a fantasy. You go up against anyone with a gun you will end up dead or with a few more bullets in your diet.
