Because I'm bored... again... (running an ecological experiment at the moment and my 'beloved' ants aren't playing ball...)

Which, in your esteemed opinion, is/was the best tank that is/was produced (relative to technology of the time when they first entered service)?

This son of a *****. [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Landkreuzer_P._1000_Ratte]It would have had a crew of between 21 and 40, and was 14m tall.
That or
This [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Panzer_VIII_Maus]
This one actually had a prototype built.
Both were massive.

Baneblade all the way.

Come on, it's a massive super heavy of distructive power.

It's a fortress on tracks.

And well ......

The t-34.
Sloped armor and easily mass produced to the point they had tank crews in them when they left the factory?

The T-34 kicked the panzer's ass.

In recent times, its the M1 Abrahms. It can shoot very accurately on the move and it's practically invulnerable due to its [classified] armor.

The Mk1 for me. Nothing like it had ever been used before. It helped to have Churchill behind it, he liked forcing people to adopt mad ideas, some of them even worked.

It's not illegal to say 'Chobham', you know... and I'll insert 'British designed' as well. =P

LEO! LEO! LEO!

Voting for this one purely because, in the enormous pile of noob poop and scammy microtransactions that is World Of Tanks, driving a Leo with 100% crew in a low tier match is the funniest god damn thing I've ever done in a video game.

(FYI, non-Tanks-players, the Leopard goes 66kph in a game where most other tanks have trouble going half that speed. It's like the episode of Futurama where Fry gets hyper-caffeinated, nnnnnnnyeyeeeeeeeeowwwwwwmmmmmmm!)

This is a battle between the M1 Abrams and the Leopard 2 A6. American knucklehaeds with inevitably say that the Abrams is the best because the Americans use it. Well, let me put it very simple: you're wrong! The Abrams is a relic from the Gulf War, old and caught up by the Leopard. It's no longer being produced, so every one which is damaged, cant be replaced, it has to be stripped, cleaned, parts replaced, and built up again from the gound up. The Leopard has a near identical design, so that doesn't matter, but it's technologacally more advanced. So my vote goes to the Leopard.

In WWII, the T34, unbeatable, and the Germans were scared to death of it, because it was death on tracks. But note keyword: WWII. It's old and had to be replaced, even though it was an engineering miracle, with it revolutionary sloped armor. This one is however, the most important tank since the Mk 1.

Destroys everything. No matter if mech, tank or ship, there are very few vehicles who can take more than one punch of that monster.

Panzerkampfwagen V Panther is missing

T34 is the only legal contender against the german tanks (even beats them in some regards of modern warfare and engineering aspects), as all of the other relevant NATO post War tanks either try to follow the german engineering doctrine or have to rely on licenses for several important parts

The best at the time of it's production is definitely the T-34. It was rugged, easy to produce, had excellent protection(YAY sloped armor!) and a decent gun as well. It wasn't over engineered like German tanks and it wasn't as easy to kill as Shermans, an excellent balance.

The best tank as of now is most definitely the M1A2 Abrams. Excellent armor, excellent gun, amazing engine, and some of the best targeting systems in any armor to date. Yes the Leopard 2 is damn good tank but it doesn't have the protection of the Abrams(much less that of the Challenger 2) and it's targeting and communications systems aren't up to what it's American counterpart is packing.

Challenger II. Great armour, great gun, great reliability and performance, and each one has everything the crew needs to make TEA, because it's British.

The classified armour is made in the UK by the same people that make the upgraded (read: better) version for the Challenger II.

The Challenger II is also faster over rough terrain and more accurate.

The only reason people call the Abrams the best is because there are more of them, meaning more exposure.......and it's American!

Thanks to Top Gear, I chose the Challenger 2.

However, I do have a soft spot for Baneblades and Leman Russes.
