I want this tattoo but everyone saids it would be dumb.

<spoiler=I like it> [http://photobucket.com/images/high%20fives]But Just the picture. Nothing else.

And if not that then I want 2 in latin.
"While I breathe I hope"
Or
"The only good is knowledge and the only evil is ignorance."

All I know is that as soon as I turn 18 I'm getting one.

I am addicted, and quite covered. Lack of space has me moving on to hand and neck stuff now.
BTW I'm quite old and I've never regretted it for a second. Even though some of them are pretty shitty.

One of these is for my back, like shoulder blades to the base of my lumber.

Number 1, my preferred one at the moment

Number 2, awesome, but needs a bit of cleaning up
Super Awesome Tip Of The Day - a lumbar tattoo is like painting a target on your back for any experienced fighter. They will rip your head off. Literally.

Ive been debating getting one for a while now. Nothing elaborate or huge. But I know that tatoos are permanent, and I just want to make sure I'll still want it in 20 years lol.

Overall I think they can range from being awesome to being gaudy and unnecassary, it varies from person to person. (At least it does to me)

I have a 4 tattoos, 2 which I don't like anymore, and regret, thankfully they're small and hidden. I also have Sublime's 40 Oz to Freedom over my left shoulder, and it's really fucking cool, I love it.

I still have more tattoos that I am planning to get, I always wanted half or full sleeves, but these days, everywhere I go I see so many of them that I'm just a bit over it now...

I have a stylized buffalo (native american style) on my shoulder blade. My best friend has a similar one his arm his is surrounded by a whole sleeve of tattoos though. I also have a '6' with a sprocket around it tattooed on my knee. My older brothers have 1-5 with a circle in different places. For example my 3rd eldest brother has a '3' on his elbow surrounded celtic-y knot.
Underneath all our 'circles' we have a 'we miss you 2' in honor of my late brother.

Voted the "Meh, they're not too good, but whatever" option.

Some of them look cool, but I just have a problem with committing part of my body to anything like that. It seems very tribal, primal, savage, in a way. Which in a way is pretty damn cool, but in another way, I'd like to be able to just make it not show when I feel like it. If you know what I mean. I don't think there's anything I could get a tattoo of that takes precedence over any other aspect of my life.

I know that people work around this by getting tattoos in places that they can just cover up, but that sorta removes the whole purpose of having one - displaying your love/loyalty or whatever, or making a statement about yourself.

Long story short: I don't give a shit if anyone else gets one. I don't plan on ever getting one. And, trying to not sound like a dick here, the Yahtzee tattoo in this thread is an exact example of my problem with committing to something. Many things I find incredibly awesome when I first experience/see them end up coming back with a stunningly mediocre taste in my mouth later when I go back and look at them. (Take the game Shattered Steel, for instance. I suppose at the time I hadn't played any better 'mech sim, but now it's a pretty "eh" game.)

A tattoo can be great to express your devotion and whatnot, but I really don't think I like stereotyping or labeling myself to the point of anything meaning so much to me.

ie: I'd never get a Horde tattoo.
I'd never get a tattoo involving a musical group.
I'd never get a tattoo involving another living, tangible person.
I'd never get a tattoo involving a game.

If I was to get a tattoo, it'd be an ideal or an emblem.

If I had to get one, it would be the Old Code, written in Gaelic because it'd just be more awesome, all down my back:

A knight is sworn to valor;
His heart knows only virtue;
His blade defends the helpless;
His might upholds the weak;
His word speaks only truth;
His wrath undoes the wicked.

I want those chains now :p. Is it OK to have tatoo's on your wrists if you are going to work in a bank, or a shop, or anywhere that requires a uniform?

Anyways, I can't legally get one yet but I come from a family that has only one member without a tatoo. My brother has a very large tatoo of a Chinese dragon that covers most of his body. It goes from his lower back to the top of his neck and down his arms.

I guess they're alright but I'm not a fan of really big ones or tribal tattoos, too...chaotic if I must put a word too it.

I probably won't go through with it but if I do get one it will be these and no more. I'm thinking of getting a right wing on my right shoulder, a wing silhouette like my avatar or this one

just switch it to a right wing, vertically invert it and make it a silhouette, incidentally I'm getting a necklace exactly the same as that one as soon as I can be bothered to buy it.

and a blue rose above my right pectoral muscle and below my right collarbone, something like this

Minus the flowers in the background.

and being the parkour nut that I am I'll probably get this

but with a bit of hair on that head.

I think tattoos are pretty awesome, don't know if I'll ever get one myself though, I'd probably be afraid of regrettting what I did once I reach old age.

For me, the tattoo would have to have a meaning, like, signifying a child's birth or something similar. The only tattoo i'm getting is when i'm married, it will be a celtic knot on my cheast, symbolizing everlasting love (celtic knots do not start or end).
