Only if someone is being a real dick, I'll taunt them and have some fun letting them know how dumb they are.
It's only if I'm being killed by someone with a really cheap weapon/class,and when I'm playing with friends.

Typically i do not start stuff like this, most people cannot deal with it. As a previous poster said mostly bad players (80% in my experience) taunts. Then again it just one way to vent their frustration whenever somebody is owning them and they cannot seem to get out the pit.

I frequently demand that my opponent should show their moves.
I also like to berate people about their lack of knowledge of Middle Eastern politics and then wonder aloud about the surely tragic end to which their anti-intellectual lifestyle will conduct them.

I use the in game taunts if they have them all tiem time!
They are a valid tactic, as more often then not people will forget all about the objective just to find you and kill you. If i can lead 3 peeps around on a wild goose chase simply by taunting them, then that's 3 less people out there ruining my temas chance at victory.
Just gotta be careful. It's easy to say it's just a game and people need to relax, but that anger can rise up rather fast. I try to watch for it, and when I catch myself getting pretty riled up, know that I best take a break for a bit.

I used to T-bag people in Halo 3. Not because I thought it was hilarious, but because I noticed it would make them legitimately worse players. They usually start trying to single me out to get revenge, which of course means they tend to ignore a lot of OTHER things, which usually gets them killed. Dickish tactic? Of course. But a legitimate one nonetheless.
I might also do it if the other player is being a doucebag. And if one of my friends got team-killed, we would all gang up on them until we were kicked. Totally worth it.
