For those of you that don't already know one Christopher Poole (aka: Moot) will be making an appearance in the upcoming TED talks. Poole founded a certain infamous image board that has become both a virtual cesspool and a source of internet culture at the same time.

What are your feelings on this? TED is usually strictly "serious" subjects, but has featured lighter subjects in the past. Could Poole provide us all with some insight on the interactions of the Internet community as a whole, or will this all end up as some act of trolling?

Information for those who don't know:
The TED talks [http://www.ted.com/] and Listing of TED speakers [http://conferences.ted.com/TED2010/program/speakers.php]
The Story [http://gigaom.com/2009/12/22/4chan-founder-moot-to-speak-at-ted/]
The Wikipedia Article on 4Chan [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/4chan]

For those of you that know little or have never been to the site, I hold no responsibility over anything that happens if you so choose to visit it. Let's try and keep this from degrading to the traditional spewing of memes (This coming from the guy with the Deadpool avatar of all things)

I will watch that show, and laugh knowing that Bill O'RLY is bubbling with rage at the thought of Moot being famous.

God knows he's likely still steamed from the Time incident.

I think this could yield some genuinely interesting discussion. Love it or hate it, there's no denying that 4Chan is as much a breeding ground for thoughts and ideas as much as it is a breeding ground for memes and shock images. How much Moot might have to say about this remains to be seen, but I'm willing to keep an open mind.

Not really, I was a *sigh* /b/tard for about a year, and visit it if I happen to be bored out of my mind (so about once a month). I have yet to personally see anything worth seeing that wasn't a screencap. /b/ is an uncreative, unoriginal shithole.

/b/ isn't the entirety of 4Chan, thankfully.
