Because it seems pretty damn clear that the developers are have their sights set on Notch's immense money pile.

Hahahaha. So misinformed. It's not that much like Minecraft. It's just blocky and you CAN build things.

Normally, that would mean a rip-off but the focus of the game is completely different. Minecraft is about building, whereas Terraria is about adventuring and defeating bosses. The building section of the game is really shit.

Yep, it is that.

To be fair, Minecraft is a rip off of Infiniminer, but much larger in scope.
Terraria looks exactly like Minecraft would look, if it was 2d imo.
I've played it, and it seems almost exactly like Minecraft, but more for children who just want to kill things instead of make pyramids and cities.

lol, all the choices are varying degrees of "WOW TERRARIA IS AMAZING, ZOMG" and it isn't even a poll at all, it is "Terraria is great."
You're in the wrong place to advertise your game ye off little posts.

You can't review terraria on that, Do you know the skeletor? or the devourer of worlds?
Some of the more entertaining boss fights I've had in ages

Do you know Lich King 25 man Heroic? Do you know Noth the Wipe-bringer? Do you know 10 man 3 drake zerg OS? Those are the shining beacons of boss fights in my gaming history, and I don't need to play this game to know it won't measure up to those.
I'm more into the creation that Minecraft brings, than the 'engaging' fights of Terraria.

Its the same way that any game with cars and guns is a GTA-Clone. If it mines like a duck and collects resources like a duck whilst using the resources to create better homes and better defend against monsters in the dead of night... well it's basically a duck.


I wouldn't have anything against the game if it were any good, but so many people on the forums are pushing it lately I can't help but think that the terraria makers may have made a few covert accounts. That or people hate minecraft so much that they'll defend any competition to the death just to be different.

Reminds me of the people who say fortress-craft (Xbla one, forget it's name) is completely different to minecraft. Watched a video once to that effect and they could hardly think of a single point that was truly unique.

it can be annoying to see short sighted things like that
terraria has alot of the same features as minecraft
but then again it also has rpg aspects and most importantly boss monsters
i would say its kinda like the sants row is to grand thieft auto
adding in more fun whilst keeping the fundementals that made it good

the previously mentioned fortresscraft is nigh identical to minecraft
it is copied shamelessly
kinda like all the cover based combat games we see copying from gears of war
however gears of war is appauling
whereas minecraft is basic but good

I've played the game and watched gameplay footage. That's about as informed as I can get.

What I played was a Minecraft rip-off.

And the building section wasn't the only part that was really shit.

While the poll is absolutely terrible in terms of variety of choices, I do have to agree with OP. Just because Terraria uses (or "Borrows" if you're that snarky of a bastard) elements from Minecraft doesn't mean it's a rip-off. Terraria is more about adventuring and discovering new things while Minecraft is a pure shot of condensed sugar/crack to those who love Legos. I'm happy that both games exist in the same universe since both of them have their own unique styles and mechanics going for them.
