TESCO has been accused of religious discrimination - after banning a JEDI KNIGHT for wearing a hood.

http://www.thesun.co.uk/sol/homepage/news/2642956/Tesco-supermarket-bans-Jedi-Knight-for-wearing-hood.html

I think its amazing that some faiths would not be discriminated for this while others are.

What are your thoughts.

EDIT: I don't care how nerdy it is but I am a "Jedi" according to the UK Census ^^

Stupid. Both The Sun and Tesco - he shouldn't have been thrown out for having a hood, but it was nothing to do with his so called 'religion' (aside from the fact that that was what caused his to wear a hood in the first place) so I don't see why that was even brought up. Well, aside from making a sensationalist news story, that is.

My good Sir, there is a Jedi Temple almost literally down the road from me.

Anyway, the story amused me much so.

Ummm.. this is The Sun, which I thought was about as reliable as The Onion. We don't have it over here, so I might be wrong.

Religion or no that man was wearing a large hood that concealed his face, which is against store policy because security cameras can't see his face and identify him on cctv should he commit a crime. Being part of a religion dosent excuse you from the law or the laws of a shop. Period.

If they ban him for his hood, Muslims should be banned for the whole black cloth over their face thing. Just because a few million people believe the same thing doesn't mean they should get it easy.
Some do, some don't. It depends on where you go.

OT: It's store policy, you might not agree with it, but it's story policy either way.

i actually think that they were right to do this. muslims are whipped, killed, and punished for not wearing veils, and most of them probably can be seen through with a cctv camera. hoods however, especially the leathery kind most likely worn by the jedi, is made of thicker stuff and cannot be seen through.

make of it what you will. this is what i think.

Then how come the Muslim woman was left alone?

Since when did Jedi have to wear hoods all the time in public? The most easily discernible trend in the films is wearing a hood when you're 'being polite'/unobtrusive, and removal of the hood for conversation or fighting.

...I'll go back to my nerdcave.

If they can be seen through then they're not following the rules of their religion correctly.

Thats all very well but when did you last see a news story about a store banning a Muslim woman for wearing a veil?

I dont think so in this country. In their own country then thats their laws.
