So, let me set the scene....

I am a Team Leader at a Tesco store in the North East of Scotland. I work in the Bakery.
Recently we received a delivery of Mince Pies for our display area.
WTF! It's not even like the packaging was subtile in any way, it had pictures of Holly and Santa and all that.

I felt so embarrassed putting them out as I was getting weird looks from customers.

So my question (and poll) is, when should xmas items be put on display? (retail shop or otherwise)

Also what's the worst example of this you have seen in your area?

EDIT: OYEA! Want to know when these damned mince pies go out off date....... 26th October

I think Christmas songs should be banned in shops until December, other than that I don't really mind the other stuff.

My area usually starts in the first week of October which is so embarrassing seeing pumpkins next to Santa.

Personally, I think it should start near the end of November, because people do need a little time to hunt all that shit down and hope it isn't sold out.

See, this is why marketers need to be given a shotgun mouthwash until they realise that they need to start putting shit up when it is relevant, not when it's 3 months away and a different holiday season.

It's September, Christams has begun, ahhh.... BACK TO WORK YOU INCMOPETENT DOGS!

It should be illegal to mention before the 25th of November, one month is more than enough time. As it stands early Sept to late Jan is how long the corporate Christams period runs. But the Mince Pies can come out whenever they like (munch munch).

I don't have a problem with Christmas its just that I have a problem exploiting religion for money.

Its like if we started advertising for Eid Al-Fitr 4 months ahead of time and the presents were sticks of dynamite with radio throw switch detonators.

"Oh look, lets make stuff that loosely represents the religion from what we see in the media and sell shit that we think goes along with it"
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
On a second note, this year Im sure Christmas decorations and advertisements will come WAY early because companies want to sell everything they overstocked from last year so they can get back on track. That I can understand.

Oh it starts right after Halloween in this country, sometimes earlier. Yes it gets quite annoying. I think people should wait until at least mid November to put out the Xmas stuff.
Nothing like starting the Christmas Music loop mid-October. Joys of an over commercialized holiday.

I'd say November. However mince pies as soon as possible (if not all year round)! They are just so tasty!
