Happened to me today like it happens to every WoW player who raids with folks not in their guild: while waiting for a tank to come back from a bio break, a player decided it would be great to pull the boss and cause a wipe. No one was sure at first what happened, but the problem became apparent when it happened again as we were trying to regroup. It resulted in a raid collapse, loosing the hour + it took to put the raid together(a 25 man), and a lot of players wound up getting locked to the raid where the only the 1st boss was cleared (not ideal for most)

Now obviously is best to put the player on ignore, but I felt a little more vindictive than that. I contacted that guy's guild leader and gave him a heads-up on that members activity.

So, for those of you who have been wronged in game whether by someone destroying your raid, or having a master looter ninja your loot, have do deal with it?

Would you:

Shrug and walk away: its just a game anyways

Contact the Guild Leader: someone has to reign this jerk in

Go on the global chat and pour on the hate: troll it up!

or some other means of reprisal: suggestion box here :)
When I used to play WoW and some character was shown to be an asshole or poor sport, I would make a list of people that really crossed me (not every asshole I met) and if I saw them trying to make or get into a raid I would tell chat (or the raid leader) of why he was a bad raid member.

Thankyou for that. I find the term Bio-break very clever. And I would find that annoying. Is it true people go on for 40+ hour raids?
I have never done any of the more time-consuming raiding myself, but yes. That is entirely possible. Not all in one go. People would clear a part of a "raid instanse" or "dungeon", and save their progress. Then they would come bact the next day and do the next part. If it was really hard to do, and7or they failed alot, it would take a long, long time to compleat.

This person shouldn't be raiding, plain and simple. Blacklist them as much as possible on Realm forums, talk to their guild leader. If they are DPS (And I have a feeling they are) just grab another DPS, DPS (at least on my server) is a dime a dozen.

OT: Kick the first time, G-kick as well if possible, ignore list, and contact their GuildMaster saying ZOMG NINJA N00B

I walk out.

If I am pugging something, chances are I am only there out of sheer boredom anyway. I could care less about leaving a group like that.

I play a Holy Priest in WoW, by the way. Me leaving a group always hurts it. Badly.

If it's a mistake, let him know how you guys do things and how it's done. If he's doing it to be a prick, kick him or contact the guild master. But it could just be an honest mistake..maybe.

I never pug, so if it's a guildie that does it on purpose, he can enjoy a /gkick. If it's a random dude to fill out the numbers of the raid, he gets kicked.
As simple as that.

In WoW, if it happens, I follow him for a while untill he's in a big ol' fight and then use Hysteria (Drains 30% health) He usually ends up dying.

I usually go "Whew, at least it wasn't me this time". But seriously, if it happens by accident (or if a player is new to the game) I don't see a point in being angry or vindictive, its a game after all. But if it happens cause guy was a jerk, and refused to follow simple order than probably I'd do the same thing you did.

I don't know how I'd react. I never did get far enough into WoW (or any MMO) to be in a "raid". Any time I was in a party that wiped it was no big deal as it set us back a few minutes at most. I'd like to think I'd be reasonable, but if I just devoted 8 hours to an endeavor only to have it ruined by one stooge with ADD, I might be a bit cross.

For me, it's largely situational. Since my main on WoW is either the tank or the healer, it helps to know I'm not as easily replaced as a DPS member (though I don't really say that anymore to the ground - that's just a dick move, y'know?).

If I find a guy consistently steals aggro from me and I know it's not my fault, I generally don't help them. Let the healer chew him out for making their life harder, not me. Heck, they made my job EASIER, so why not? Sadly, with the recent changes in the game (which I actually like), it's less likely for stupid DPS to fall victim to Darwinism like they ought to.

If they do the above AND give me grief for it, I'll generally be a bit snarky and tell 'em to back off, then not say another word on the subject. It stings the pride a bit to let jerks like that get off with a warning, but if I take the high ground and the guilty party continues acting like an ass, the rest of the party is more likely to agree to give him the boot. Plus, I don't like making three/eight other people suffer 'cause of one jackass by bailing.

On occasion, one polite warning gets them to quiet down and work like they're part of a team, so being polite is definitely a good start. On the other hand, if the group sucks and I reach my stress limit, I make it clear who's to blame for me bailing and leave. Nothing's forcing me to endure douchebaggery for the sake of a few justice points.

All in all, it really depends on what really caused the wipe, the players' attitude, and my own mood for the day. ^_^

Oh, I see: a group of you wanted to face a hard boss and all were killed.

I've never played three seconds of WoW, but I can tell you if I was playing the game I wouldn't be in a group, since I hate teamwork in MMOs and because of that, the asshole player.

Just take him out.
