Try Duval, it's a German beer, it's brilliant. Also Advertising is not allowed.

My personal favourite ale is the Kilkenny. It's really good, slightly foamy and with a mild hint of caramel.

The best beer is always the next beer.

I'd love to contribute something to your poll, but the only ones I've ever even heard of are the basic beers. It wouldn't surprise me if that ended up being the trend here.

to vote in this i'd have to sample all those beers, the vast majority of which i've never even heard of never mind seen for sale in a shop. I'm afraid you're probably not going to get an accurate result from your poll there ^^

I've noticed that you've listed the Westvleteran 8, but not the 12. The Westvleteran 12 is the best beer in the world. I don't mean it in any sort of subjective way, either. It really is. It's coveted by beer geeks all over the world, and the supply is very limited. They make a lot of it, but it get's bought out real quick, and you're only allowed to buy a limited supply.

As a homebrewer and beer geek at heart (even more so than video games...), I'll throw my vote at Trappist Ales. Those Belgians sure know what the fuck they're doing.

I posted the readily available ones.... The ones that are hard to get ahold of I'd rather not be stuck with...

Pick up Pliny the Elder if you can find any. It'll be good for the hop-heads. It's Russian, I believe, and credited as the 2nd best beer in the world. It's not terribly hard to find. I live in Northern Colorado and there is plenty at the more respectable beer-centric stores. Then again, this is pretty much the Napa Valley of beer, so it could just be that...

Exactly.

Basic beers are the safest choice, I'd say.

Personally, I find the Budweiser to be dull and uninteresting. Heineken and Carlsberg is a bit better in that regard. Nobody says no to a Heineken, right?

I'm a big fan of Weisse beer, and the Trappists do a good version of it too. The Chimay white is a personal favourite of mine. Erdinger, for a popular beer, do quite a good Weissbier too.

Had quite a few nice Belgian beers a few weeks back, can't remember exactly what they were off the top of my head. Duvel's generally an alright drop, but there was another that's escaping me at the moment, it was cherry flavoured for some bizarre reason. Wasn't particularly good, but interesting nonetheless.

As for lagers, I do enjoy an Amstel. Not everyone's first choice, but when you live in a sub-tropical climate, it's quite refreshing. Even a local, Pure Blonde is bliss on a hot day.

I'm very much a beer for a certain time kind of person. If I want to have a drink, it's a lager, if I explicitly want to drink beer, I go for ales mostly, as the market here is dominated by lagers.
I'm still yet to find an Ale that really sticks out for me, there's plenty of decent ones, just none that have been particularly memorable.

Favourite beer hands down is Kirin's Taste of Autumn (or Aki-aji). It's a seasonal beer that I really enjoyed when I was living in Japan. It'd be nigh on impossible to get it here though. Top drop and it was much better than it's Winter, Summer and Spring cohorts.

Dear lord don't go with an American macrobrew. They don't have enough flavor compared to imports or smaller brewery stuff. I like darker beers and ones that are different from most like ESBs or some IPAs. Probably the safest yet tastiest beer to go with would be Newcastle Brown Ale.
