I was planning on making this thread after the franchise ended, but I honestly think there will be more games than poll options by the time it ends.

I have never played the first three game of the franchise, but I'll vote for the original Modern Warfare. It had the single-player awesomeness of MW2 without the terrible multiplayer.
You realize you'd probably have been waiting for the next 10-30 years right?

Call of Duty 2 for me. COD4 was good but nothing has topped COD2's campagin and multiplayer for me.
When Bobby Kotick dies, I guess. Which will be soon after I transfer this five hundred grand over to the bank account of this guy named 'Agent 47'.
Sadly, and somewhat disturbingly, I have a feeling Mr. Kotick is going to end up a lot like:

(NEW VEGAS SPOILER ALERT!)
Mr. House. Have his body put in a case, and his mind works through a computer. Just so he can "rule" the video game world after his death...

I think we'll be stuck with MR. Kotick for quite some time...
Dammit!

And whenever someone attempts to destroy him, he possess the body of another by saying 'Assuming direct control!'.

Aww, damn it!

I forgot to use my favourite game as a reference...

I deserved to be ninja'd (sort of...not really...) on that one...

Lets just hope he isn't a servant of the Reapers. Then we really are screwed....

For single player, it's gotta be CoD2. The characters and the missions were fantastic, none of the other over the top Hollywood style missions of the later CoD games can compare.

However, Black Ops wins as far as multiplayer goes. The sheer amount of customization is fucking brilliant, and I've not played one map that I hate yet. It still makes me rage like a ************, but that's part and parcel of CoD games :)

For singleplayer: CoD 4. It's immersive and has fast changing action, I love it.

For multiplayer: Black Ops. I love the CoD points, I've always wanted a game set up like that. It just fulfilled my gaming dreams.

Second Place:

Singleplayer: Black Ops

Multiplayer: CoD 4

Easily the first one. I've said that a million times and I can say it a million times more. Call of Duty is fantastic and I can only wish they would go back to their roots...

COD2 - Especially playing online in rifle only servers, really great experience. Some great mods for it as well.
