So, my mother and I had a conversation/argument today about which of the four Terminator movies was the best.

She was saying that she liked the first one the best just because it was the original and the first in a series is usually the best and she prefers that the Terminator is evil because that was how he was originally meant to be.

I say the second one is the best. I thought it had the best storyline and overall, it was the most entertaining. And I think part of it had to do with me thinking that Edward Furlong (he plays John) was ridiculously cute at the time (I think I was about 11 or 12 when I first saw it). But that aside, I still think that's the second one is the best of the series.
I have seen 1-3 but I haven't bothered to see the fourth one yet. I don't think I really even want to.

So, Escapists, which do you think is the best?

The second. I'm not a big fan of the first, the story is so convoluted (even for a time-travel movie based off killer cyborgs) that it just bugs me. But the second is pretty great. I give it a thumb up!

I haven't seen the 4th movie, but I'm pretty sure it's not as good as T2. That movie was just awesome.

First one good. T2 Epically fantastic. The others just are crap in comparison, in fact the only good thing about number 4 was Christian Bale yelling at the DP.

Terminator 2 all the way, 1 was also good, 3 was pretty shit and Salvation is good but the fact that Arnold isn't in it ruins it i think, didnt even have the same guy playing John Connor (i generally dislike sequals that dont keep the same actors)

I liked all of them except for the third one, I just pretend that one was never made.

I don't consider Terminator 3 to be a real movie... In fact, I believe it's just a scary story that parents tell their children so that way they don't go wondering out in the woods.

T2 all the way!

Terminator 1. The scene where

Swartzineigers skin in blown off at the end, and he chases Sarah Conner through the factory was erie and awsome, despite the fact that now it is a pretty out of date special effect. Still blew my mind the first time I saw it about 7 months ago.

Terminator 2: Judgment Day. It made 434% more money than the first, and in my eyes, it's one of the best sequels ever made.
[small]...I also think it's James Cameron's best film to date...[/small]

That's not to say that I hate the other movies. I love the original Terminator and even liked Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines. Hell, the Terminator series could have become one of the best cinematic trilogies of all time, before Terminator Salvation came along and gave the series what I like to call "The Phantom Menace: The Kingdom of the Crystal Skull II: Reloaded" treatment.

Agreed, T2 was a masterpiece in fact it was so much so that it deserves two FTW's.
So yeah, T2 FTW.

[sub]I too, am not used to saying 'FTW'.[/sub]

Terminator 2. Easily Terminator 2. Salvation was pretty good, but just wasn't as good as T2. I would go into more detail, but I can't really articulate my thoughts about it.

Wait, your mother watched Terminator? And likes it enough to have a (slightly nerdy) discussion about it? You have a cool mother.

Anyhow, I'd have to say Terminator 2 is my favorite.
