This is extreme nitpicking, but the image for Knights of the Old Republic is technically impossible to achieve in the game without using a teleport cheat. HK-47 can only be bought on the far side of Anchorhead, which can only be accessed after killing the Sith featured in the image.

I've..... played both games far too much.
That was a test, to determine the depths of your affection for Knights of the Old Republic. You've revealed yourself to be a true patriot of the series. Your prize, an admiral's hat with a full color applique of HK-47 in a poncho on the side, will be shipped to you in 3-4 weeks.[footnote][sub][small]Offer will not be honored[/small][/sub][/footnote]

I'll agree with you on Fallout 1, 2, Tactics and New Vegas, though.
Well, we're rating RPG series...I was excluding any entries that weren't RPGs.

The Elder Scrolls hands down. Just about every time a TES game comes it out it pushes the limits of gaming further than ever before.

Played most of the games on that list... think its slightly biased because of the Skyrim-fever that is going round. I have a touch of it myself, but I still say KotOR is the best.

Well, I am ashamed to say I have not played Baldur's Gate, but it seems like the game I would vote for if I had played it.

I voted Mass Effect as it as a series has not had anything it is renowned as being bad at, at least not anything that comes up often.
-Dragon Age: 2 ruined it for Dragon Age. A large portion of the fanbase found it a major let down, and the rushed development cycle made it come out more incomplete than KotOR 2.
-The aforementioned KotOR 2 ruined it for KotOR. A massive rush job that had to be fixed by fans, that did not live up to what its predecessor offered.
-TES falls flat due to the large prevalence of bugs in the games. Don't care that its got a massive world, those bugs have been game breaking for some people.

And I'm out of time and unexpectadly having to go. Damn parents...

what is wrong with you people?

Baldur's Gate, a million times over.

Shadows of Amn gave us not only one of the greatest villains of all time, but had some amazing voice acting (for its time).

personally, i thought its dragon battles where more thrilling than even Skyrims....and they didn't happen so often as to be redundant.

not to mention the unforgettable characters, huge scale of the final battle, and IMOEN...im still in love.

its easy to see why game devs voted it as the greatest video game ever made.

oh and Boo, who could forget Boo?

I've played most and in the end it came down to Fallout and Elder Scrolls. TES has more hours than Fallout, its a big and beautiful continuation spanning over hundreds of years. So, yeah, Elder Scrolls.

I'm gonna have to go with Baldur's Gate, I'm still replaying that series over and over and over...

I went with Baldur's Gate. I've only played Ultima 7 (and the Underworlds) and a little bit of Wizardry 1 (yes, 1. Why I haven't tried the more modern ones is totally beyond me) otherwise there's a good chance I'd be voting for one of those.

I also really love the Elder Scrolls series, the Fallouts, and KOTOR, but Baldur's Gate struck a perfect balance with everything it did. It wasn't too linear or too open, it wasn't too story driven or too hack and slashy, it had solid characters and a decent plot, and the combat somehow managed to be simultaneously deep, accessible and fun.

If we were going for a single game it would have to be Planescape: Torment or VTM Bloodlines (Redemption was meh) but as a series nothing tops Baldur's Gate.

I vote for Gothic, as there needs to be some counterweight for Baldur's Gate and Ultima!

KotOR. One of my favourite games of all time really...

EDIT: The poll results are so predictable... xD

Since you said SERIES, I guess that disqualifies Planescape: Torment since it was only a single self contained game. I guess I'll throw in for Elder Scrolls then.

Baldur's Gate II is the single greatest RPG ever made, and I would argue the single greatest game ever made. By virtue of that alone, I have to vote for BG.

I voted for OTHER because there wasn't a Planescape: Torment option.

EDIT: Planescape: Torment, while undeniably one of, if not THE finest CRPG ever made, is a single game, and not a series. Stop voting for it! Stop it right now!
Sorry, can't hear you, caaaan't :).

Let's pretend PS:T never happened:
I'd go with Fallout, since we count series. Baldurs Gate II is astonishing, but I believe both Fallouts beat both Baldurs. And yes, I said BOTH Fallouts, since there is only Fallout and Fallout 2. I appreciate Bethesda's effort, but they almost surgically managed to remove every single bit that made Fallouts what they still are.

It's a tough choice between Elder Scrolls and Ultima. Elder Scrolls owes quite a bit to Ultima but Elder Scrolls has become far better so I guess I'll have to go with that. Got to respect Ultima for being the pioneer though.
